Job Title: Facilities Technician with HVAC Certification
Job Summary:We are seeking a skilled and reliable Facilities Technician with a specialized focus on HVAC systems to maintain and repair building systems, equipment, and other essential facilities infrastructure. The individual will be responsible for ensuring the safety, efficiency, and optimal performance of all HVAC and building systems, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and conducting necessary repairs. The ideal candidate will hold a valid HVAC certification and possess excellent troubleshooting and maintenance skills.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform routine preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units.
- Troubleshoot and repair HVAC issues as they arise, ensuring systems are running efficiently and effectively.
- Install new HVAC systems and components as required.
- Monitor and control the building's HVAC system performance using building automation systems (BAS).
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following proper safety procedures and maintaining equipment in good working condition.
- Respond promptly to service requests related to HVAC systems and other building facilities issues.
- Conduct regular inspections of electrical, plumbing, and other building systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
- Collaborate with the facilities management team to identify opportunities for system improvements and energy efficiency upgrades.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
- Assist with other general facilities management tasks, such as minor plumbing, electrical repairs, and light maintenance.
- Respond to emergency repairs and service requests outside of normal business hours as needed.
- HVAC Certification (e.g., EPA Section 608, NATE, or equivalent).
- Proven experience in maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting HVAC systems.
- Familiarity with electrical, plumbing, and general building systems.
- Strong understanding of HVAC safety protocols and local building codes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills for maintaining maintenance logs and work orders.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with internal teams, contractors, and vendors.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and operate tools and machinery as necessary.
- Previous experience in facilities management or similar role.
- Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) for HVAC management.
- Certification in other areas, such as plumbing or electrical systems.
- Ability to handle basic custodial and general maintenance duties.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including outdoor work in all seasons.
- Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces.
- Work schedule will vary with weekend work and with occasional after-hours work required for emergency repairs.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Technical certification in facilities maintenance, electrical work, HVAC, plumbing, or a related field (preferred).
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance
- Experience in building systems maintenance, including electrical, HVAC, and plumbing.
- Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and best practices in maintenance.
Skills:
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills to manage and motivate a maintenance team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, tools, and equipment used in maintenance.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members, management, and vendors.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively, especially in high-pressure situations.
Certifications:
- OSHA or other safety certifications (preferred).
- Certification in specialized systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical) may be required depending on the facility's needs.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, such as tools, equipment, or building materials, up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in various physical conditions, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
- Ability to work in confined spaces or on ladders and scaffolding.
Work Environment:
- Work is performed in a facility environment, which may include exposure to hot, cold, or noisy conditions.
- The role involves working in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on the facility's hours of operation.
