About This Position

Job Overview:

The senior accountant will analyze financial data and be a business partner who will help others understand financial information.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • A minimum of 4 or more years of accounting experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Prior experience with PeopleSoft Financial and budget software

Preferred:

  • Prior hospital or healthcare experience a plus.
  • Prior grant accounting or auditing experience is a plus.

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full-time
  • Day

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains ledger accounts with a primary focus on pre- and post- award grant accounting for Federal and State of New Jersey awarded grants.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with funders’ administrative guidelines, timely receipt of revenue, accurate submission of financial reports, single audit processes and orderly closure of projects.
  • Monitor and track the status of grant programs through its program life cycle.
  • Work with grant managers and advise management on preparing grant budgets for proposals.
  • Monitor expenses for allowable uses of grant funds.
  • Creates monthly journal entries and prepares monthly and daily reconciliations.
  • Maintains accurate detail in support of the balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other documents that project the organization's and grant financial position.
  • Prepares and/or reviews assigned areas of annual budget, including the capital budget, portions of the operating budget, analysis of the budget, and the budget package in accordance with due dates.
  • Written and verbal communication is done in a manner that is clear, concise, timely, and accurately conveys the message.
  • Ensures that all reports generated provide meaningful and timely information.
  • Interacts with internal and external auditors as necessary.
  • Identifies accounting problems and internal control weaknesses, researches possible solutions and presents recommendations and conclusions to Management for further evaluation.
  • Work independently, with broadly defined work objectives, with limited supervision and review of the overall result.
