Position Information


The Senior Executive Director for Development, Constituency Programs and Regional reports directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor, Development, and serves on the senior development executive team. The incumbent will oversee an administrative coordinator and development officers across campus, forming a hybrid centralized/decentralized development team that works closely with the Deans, Vice Provost of Undergraduate Education, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, and faculty to identify opportunities for private support. In conjunction with the Associate Vice Chancellor, the SED will work to create a holistic, strategic, and thoughtful approach to the development operation for seven academic and central units, overseeing a team of fifteen. The incumbent will supervise and work with senior director-level development positions in the College of Humanities, Arts, & Social Sciences (CHASS), School of Education (SOE), School of Public Policy (SPP), Intercollegiate Athletics (ATH), Regional & Pipeline Development, and Student Affairs to set priorities, annual goals, and staff performance metrics required to meet long- term university-wide, college, and school objectives. The SED will foster a culture of accountability around metrics and develop strategies to build fundraising capacity and drive results. The incumbent will hold a portfolio and will be expected to fundraise at minimum $1MM annually.The full salary range for the Senior Executive Director for Development, Constituency Programs and Regional is $123,000 - $241,400 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $123,000 - $180,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time.  Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Minimum Requirements
Excellent knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, donor and public relations including advanced knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc.
Excellent knowledge of leadership/management concepts, procedures, techniques and best practices.
Excellent leadership/management skills to select, train, mentor, evaluate and motivate staff.
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communications skills, including excellent political acumen skills, to build and maintain effective working relationships within all organizational levels and with outside constituencies.
Excellent skills in meeting predetermined goals and objectives, including securing gifts and meeting fundraising goals.
Excellent strategic planning, critical thinking, analytical, problem-solving, persuasion/negotiation skills and marketing skills.
Demonstrated leadership in working with key volunteer organizations, including advisory board members and/or major donors to the schools/colleges.
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent knowledge of the campus, its achievements, vision, mission, goals, objectives, applicable policies, infrastructure and current issues of concern and knowledge of issues of concern for higher education generally.
Must be able to demonstrate independent decision-making ability and sound judgment in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment.
The ability to inspire confidence as well as motivate others, and the ability to excel in the framework of a highly complex research institution with significant aspirations.
Demonstrated experience in developing and managing budgets, built on an institution's strategic mission, as well as programmatic planning.
Demonstrated experience in developing and/or advising fundraising strategy, working with an institution's advancement leadership.
Demonstrated experience in development annual and long-term work plans, and managing and evaluating employee performance.
Experience working in the University of California system.
