Cameron House is a 150 year old institution that is deeply woven into San Francisco history and rooted in faith-based outreach and support. We proudly hold the honor of serving the evolving needs of the San Francisco Chinese community. Cameron House is a hub of year-round programs and services. These programs include our heritage youth school, adult ESL and computer classes, counseling services in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, domestic violence intervention, and case management for accessing all of the San Francisco area community resources available for low to moderate income individuals and families. We empower community members to build strength and resilience through family-centered programs, and help people learn, heal, and thrive.

Job Summary

Reports to the Director of Youth Programs and works as a member for the Programs department. Responsibilities include: providing educational and social-emotional support to youth in our after school program and summer program through one-on-one interactions, facilitation of lessons and activities in groups; working collaboratively with schools, parents/guardians, support networks, and other community partners to help youth develop skills they need to be successful in school and life; and fostering an inclusive environment to support their growth, development, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Director of Youth Programs and the Youth Programs team in running safe and fun youth programs: Includes after school program and summer program for grades 1-8.
  • Develop and facilitate enrichment activities and lesson plans that align with core learning areas and help students develop and improve needed skills.
  • Build positive and strong relationships with students, parents/guardians, schools, and community partners.
  • Support the recruitment and retention of youth for after school and summer programming to reach participation targets.
  • Participate in program evaluations conducted by our agency or funders.
  • Support, organize, promote and coordinate community engagement events.

Requirements:
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, Social Work, Counseling, Psychology
    • NOTE: Related field and/or comparable experience over three (3) years in social services, children and families, or community non-profits may be substituted for the above requirement.
  • Required: At least two years of experience in youth development or a related field in a school-based or community-based/non-profit setting. (Including volenteer/internship)
  • Required: Experience working with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel,Powerpoint), and Zoom
  • Preferred: Familiarity with Salesforce.

  • Achieve satisfactory clearance from the Department of Justice via Live Scan
  • Undergo a screening for tuberculosis
  • Complete a Sexual Harassment Prevention training

Schedule

  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday
  • Some weekends, as needed

Compensation

As a financial steward of public funds, Cameron House is committed to pay equity and transparency. Cameron House offers competitive base salaries aligned with the market midpoint for not-for-profit organizations of similar size. To maintain this commitment, Cameron House does not negotiate salary offers; instead, each offer is carefully calculated using benchmarking data. This is an nonexempt (hourly) role with a pay range of $27.91 - $33.31 an hour.
