Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician will be responsible for addressing an array of apartment and property maintenance duties and for maintaining the highest standards in client service and curb appeal of all Urban Peak properties.
This position will ensure that interactions, interventions, and environments at Urban Peak are trauma informed and emphasize the physical and emotional safety of youth and staff.
Who You Are:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Minimum 2 year of experience in the property management industry or directly related field.
- Experience working with at-risk populations is preferred.
- Capability to read, write, comprehend, and converse in English.
- Must maintain a strong focus on client service.
- Ability to multi-task.
- A reliable vehicle is required.
- Thorough understanding of local, state and federal Fair Housing laws.
- Ability to work successfully with a variety of personality types.
- Exhibit overall dependability and ability to consistently meet deadlines.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Required to observe agency dress code policy.
- Required to observe all safety precautions and wear the appropriate safety gear in accordance with company policy.
- Required to maintain a regular schedule.
- Lived experience reflective of the youth we serve encouraged but not required.
- Ability or willingness to learn basic computer function with Office 365, Teams and Maintenance Ticket system.
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
- Ability to use second language in written and verbal communication desired (Spanish, Vietnamese, ASL)
- Must pass both federal and state background checks
- Must pass pre-employment TB screening.
What You Will Do:
The duties of this position are performed personally, in cooperation with your supervisor, and/or in coordination with other staff. Additional work functions and duties may be assigned.
- Perform various maintenance functions including repairs to the following: electrical, plumbing, appliances; flooring, carpentry, HVAC, grounds maintenance.
- Perform general carpentry duties such as wallboard repair, countertop/cabinet replacement, finish carpentry, door/lock repair and ceramic tile repair.
- Inspect the property grounds, buildings, and common area amenities to maintain safety and cleanliness standards and to identify issues requiring maintenance, repair or replacement.
- Assist with management of property emergencies, such as inclement weather emergencies, fires, and floods.
- Conduct preventive maintenance as scheduled and/or directed.
- Promptly communicate with the Maintenance Supervisor concerning all maintenance issues at the property.
- Observe and promote safety and risk management in accordance with local, federal, state, and agency rules and regulations.
- Safely operate all maintenance tools, equipment, and machinery in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and company policy.
- Perform daily maintenance tasks, such as service requests and unit make-ready (punch, paint, etc.) ensuring timeliness and quality standards are met.
- Adhere to established response times and addresses emergency issues appropriately.
- Perform, and assist other maintenance team members with various maintenance troubleshooting.
- Assist with vendor management and vendor quality control.
- Assist with monitoring inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Deliver communication documentation to residents as requested.
- Promote client satisfaction by maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and curb appeal; always interact courteously and professionally with current and potential residents.
- Preserve and respect applicant and resident confidentiality.
- Foster a positive, active and collaborative relationship with residents, other communities and associated agencies.
- Complete special projects as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor

Who We Are:
Founded in 1988, Urban Peak is the only non-profit organization in Denver that provides a full convergence of services for youth ages 15 through 24 experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. Our goal is to meet youth where they are and to provide them with the assistance and support, they need to become self-sufficient or obtain the necessary services they need to exit a life on the streets.
Urban Peak provides numerous programs and services that are founded on the principles of trauma-informed care and Positive Youth Development to assist youth in reaching their potential and living a successful life off the streets. Services include street outreach, a 40-bed shelter for youth ages 15 through 20, a daytime drop-in center, supportive housing, education and employment services, case management, life skills courses, behavioral health evaluations, meals and more.
