Job Description
At Abrams Airborne Manufacturing, we build to a standard, not a deadline. Our mission — Precision, Passion, and Integrity — isn’t a poster on the wall; it’s how we plan a schedule, qualify a supplier, and hold each other accountable. If you want to lead a team that takes pride in getting it right the first time, this is that kind of shop.
Every part we ship depends on CNC machines that run, compressed air that flows, and buildings that hold up to a Tucson summer. We’re looking for a Facilities Manager to own all of it: the equipment, the buildings, and the maintenance team behind them.
This is a leadership role for someone who still likes to get their hands dirty. You’ll set the strategy, and when a critical machine goes down, you’ll be the one who knows exactly why and how to keep it from happening again.
What you’ll own
Equipment uptime. Build and run the preventive maintenance program for our CNC machining, fabrication, finishing, and support equipment. Set PM intervals, create a spare-parts strategy so repairs never wait on parts, and lead root-cause work on repeat failures.
Our buildings. Take charge of HVAC, electrical, compressed air, plumbing, roofing, lighting, and grounds across all of our Tucson buildings. Plan capital projects, manage budgets, and make the case for investments to the VP of Operations.
Your team. Hire, train, and develop maintenance technicians. Build a cross-trained crew where no single person is a point of failure.
Contractors and vendors. Select and oversee outside contractors, and negotiate service agreements that deliver real value.
Systems and metrics. Design how we track PMs from the ground up, including the system of record, how work is assigned and closed, and the metrics that show how we’re doing.
A safe, orderly site. Champion 5S standards and install safety and security hardware alongside our EHS & Security team.
Why you’ll like it here
Real ownership. You’ll design the PM program and tracking system, not inherit someone else’s.
Meaningful work. Your efforts directly support aerospace and defense manufacturing.
A seat at the table. You’ll report to the VP of Operations and partner closely with Production on priorities.
Variety. One day it’s root-causing a spindle failure, the next it’s planning a capital project or a layout change.
First-shift schedule, with local travel between our Tucson buildings.
What you bring
7+ years of maintenance or facilities experience in a manufacturing plant, including 3+ years leading a team
Working knowledge of CNC and industrial equipment, electrical, HVAC, and compressed air systems
A track record of running a preventive maintenance program and managing contractors and budgets
Comfort reading schematics, equipment manuals, and building drawings
U.S. person status as defined by ITAR (22 CFR 120.62), since this role requires access to export-controlled information
Bonus points for
Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience
Hands-on experience with a PM/CMMS tracking system
A CPMM, CMRP, FMP, or similar certification
The physical side
This role keeps you moving. You’ll walk the production floor and mechanical spaces daily, work outdoors (including in the Tucson heat), lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work from lifts. You’ll also be on call for after-hours equipment and building emergencies.
Why you’ll like it here:
Three-day weekends. We’re moving to a 4-day, 10-hour schedule in January 2027 because we take work/life balance seriously.
