Job Description

Description:

Location: Logan Agri-Service Locations
Employment Status: Internship / Temporary

Reports To: Director of Optimization, with day-to-day direction from assigned department managers or supervisors
Compensation: Minimum Wage

Role Summary

The Intern participates in a structured, hands-on development program designed to provide meaningful exposure to the operations, departments, people, and career opportunities within Logan Agri-Service. The internship begins with a rotational period through multiple departments. The purpose of these rotations is to allow the Intern to gain practical exposure to different areas of the company, understand how departments work together, and identify the type of work in which the Intern demonstrates the greatest interest, engagement, and desire to develop. Following the initial rotations, the Intern will meet with the Director of Optimization to discuss the experience, areas of interest, and potential opportunities for the remainder of the internship. When operational needs, supervision, safety considerations, and department capacity allow, the Intern may then be assigned primarily to the department that best aligns with the Intern's interests and development opportunities. Throughout the program, the Director of Optimization will maintain oversight of the internship and conduct periodic check-ins with both the Intern and the manager of the assigned department to ensure the placement continues to provide a productive experience for the Intern and the company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate actively in scheduled departmental rotations and assigned learning activities.
  • Learn the basic purpose, responsibilities, workflows, and functions of each department visited.
  • Observe and, when appropriately trained and authorized, assist employees with department-specific tasks.
  • Ask questions, seek feedback, and demonstrate an active interest in understanding Logan Agri-Service's business and operations.
  • Follow the direction of department managers, supervisors, trainers, and the Director of Optimization.
  • Complete required company, safety, and department-specific training before performing applicable work.
  • Follow all company policies, safety requirements, PPE requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in the post-rotation interview with the Director of Optimization and provide feedback regarding areas of interest and desired development.
  • After departmental placement, work with the assigned department manager to develop practical knowledge and job skills appropriate to the placement.
  • Participate in periodic check-ins with the Director of Optimization and assigned department manager.
  • Communicate concerns, questions, training needs, or changes in interest promptly.
  • Maintain professional conduct and positive working relationships with employees, customers, vendors, and others encountered during the internship.
  • Protect confidential company, employee, and customer information.
  • Perform other appropriate duties and learning assignments as directed.
Internship Program Structure

1. Orientation & Initial Training
The Intern completes applicable company onboarding, safety orientation, site orientation, and required training before participating in work activities. This fits Logan Agri-Service's existing onboarding process, which includes safety orientation before independent work and then department-specific training.

2. Department Rotations
The Intern rotates through multiple company departments to develop a broad understanding of Logan Agri-Service operations and available career paths. Individual rotations may include observation, instruction, job shadowing, project work, and supervised hands-on activities appropriate to the Intern's training and experience.

3. Post-Rotation Interview
After completing the initial rotations, the Intern meets with the Director of Optimization. The discussion focuses on:

  • Which departments and activities generated the strongest interest
  • Where the Intern felt most engaged and motivated
  • Skills or areas the Intern would like to develop further
  • Feedback received during rotations
  • Potential departmental placement opportunities

4. Department Placement
Based on the Intern's interests and the company's operational needs, the Director of Optimization will work with the applicable department manager to determine whether an appropriate placement is available. Placement is not guaranteed in a particular department and may depend on department capacity, available supervision, workload, safety considerations, training requirements, and business needs.

Working Conditions

Because of the rotational nature of the program, working conditions may vary significantly by assignment and may include:

  • Office and administrative environments
  • Agricultural retail and operational facilities
  • Warehouses and equipment areas
  • Outdoor work environments and changing weather conditions
  • Exposure to normal agricultural operations, equipment, dust, noise, and products
  • Travel between Logan Agri-Service locations or work areas when required

Required PPE and applicable safety rules must be followed at all times.

Key Functions
  • Gain practical exposure to multiple areas of Logan Agri-Service through structured departmental rotations.
  • Develop an understanding of how individual departments contribute to overall company operations.
  • Build practical workplace, communication, technical, and professional skills.
  • Identify areas of meaningful career interest through direct workplace exposure.
  • Transition from broad rotational learning to a focused departmental experience when an appropriate placement is available.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Optimization, department managers, supervisors, and employees.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, initiative, curiosity, and a commitment to safe work practices.
  • Perform assigned functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Program Objective

The Logan Agri-Service Internship Program is intended to make the Intern's time with the company purposeful and developmental. Rather than placing an Intern into a single position immediately, the program provides exposure to multiple areas of the organization before determining where a more focused experience may be most beneficial. The goal is for the Intern to leave the program with meaningful work experience, a better understanding of the agricultural industry, greater awareness of potential career paths, and practical knowledge gained through direct involvement with Logan Agri-Service operations.

Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in, recently graduated from, or exploring an educational or career path relevant to agriculture, business, operations, logistics, sales, technology, administration, or another area applicable to Logan AgriService.
  • Willingness to learn and work in multiple departments and environments.
  • Ability to follow instructions and established safety procedures.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Dependable, professional, and willing to ask questions when additional instruction is needed.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and with employees across different departments.
  • Basic computer and technology skills appropriate to assigned duties.
  • Additional qualifications, licenses, or age requirements may apply before an Intern may perform particular department-specific duties.
