About This Position

Description:

The Student Engagement Coordinator creates dynamic programs and initiatives that build a vibrant campus community and support students’ academic, social, cultural, and personal growth. This live-in role works closely with student organizations to foster leadership development, enhance engagement, and deliver programming aligned with Assumption University’s Catholic liberal arts mission, while providing after-hours support for student activities and leadership needs. SCOPE:

  1. 12-month, Live-On position (in addition to salary, an on-campus, furnished apartment is provided as a part of your compensation.)
  2. Work requires nights, late nights, and weekends.
  3. Regularly and consistently serves on a variety of university committees and ad-hoc committees as assigned.
  4. Maintain active membership in relevant professional organizations to stay abreast of developments, trends, and innovations within student affairs, student activities, entertainment, and hospitality.
  5. Regular interactions with students, faculty, staff, administrators, parents, talent agents, vendors, talent/performers, and lecturers.
  6. Requires enforcement and documentation of federal, state, and local laws, and campus event guidelines, along with the Student Code of Conduct.

SUPERVISION:

Manage operational staffing, including the hiring, supervising, training, and designated evaluation of professional staff, graduate assistants, and student employees.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The Student Engagement Coordinator for Late Night Programs and Pub Manager oversees the general operations of Pierre’s Pub and Lounge at Assumption University, including facility rentals, late-night programs, events, and general campus weekday, late-night, and weekend activities. The employee must be able to perform the following essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation:

1. Provide day-to-day operational leadership for Pierre’s Pub & Lounge, ensuring a welcoming, safe, and vibrant environment for students, alumni, and campus guests.

2. Plan, implement, and evaluate dynamic programming and entertainment (e.g., live music, DJs, themed events) aligned with branding, seasonal demand, and the academic calendar to maximize occupancy and repeat engagement.

3. Oversee front-of-house operations, including event setup and breakdown, service flow, guest experience, and staff presence during service and events.

4. Manage and document daily financial reports, occupancy data, and operational metrics; support occupancy, revenue, and customer service goals.

5. Ensure compliance with food safety, alcohol service, health code, and cleanliness standards; enforce policies consistently.

6. Monitor facilities, equipment, furniture, and venue technology; document maintenance needs and coordinate timely resolution with Facilities, IT, Media Services, Dining Services, and other partners.

7. Communicate regularly with the Assistant Dean for Community and Engagement regarding staff performance, maintenance, programming, and operational concerns.

8. Collaborate with University Advancement to support alumni engagement opportunities throughout the academic year.

9. Represent Student Engagement on the University Logistics Team; communicate entertainment plans and event needs to campus stakeholders. Advise and support student organizations hosting campus events, with a focus on late-night programming (Thursday–Saturday).

10. Review event requests to ensure appropriate funding sources, advertising standards, purchasing procedures, and event support.

11. Manage the late-night programming budget, including oversight of the university procurement card and timely reconciliations.

12. Draft and distribute monthly and semester-based calendars of OSEAL events to students and stakeholders.

13. Participate in division and department operations, including weekly OSEAL meetings and advisor meetings, and support major university events as part of the Student Affairs administrative team.

14. Model and foster a positive, collaborative work environment that supports morale, service excellence, and professional conduct.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

The following duties are considered marginal and may be modified or reassigned as needed:

1. Assist with special or one-time campus initiatives or co-sponsored events outside primary operational responsibilities.

2. Participate in optional committees, task forces, or pilot projects related to programming, entertainment, or hospitality.

3. Attend regional or national professional development opportunities as resources allow.

4. Support additional university events (e.g., orientation, matriculation, commencement, awards ceremonies) as assigned.

5. Perform other related duties consistent with the position as needed.

Requirements:
  • Must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the University as well as show respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity of Assumption University.
  • Bachelor's Degree plus two years of relevant work experience required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated program planning and execution experience.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work evenings/late nights and weekends.
  • Skill in using computer applications, including spreadsheet and word processing software.
