About the School
Established in 1948 in Mamaroneck, NY, Westchester Day School, a Modern Orthodox, co-educational, dual curriculum Jewish elementary school (2-year-olds through 8th grade), prepares students to live as mensches and lifelong learners and inspires them to impact the world around them by cultivating a commitment to Torah, midot, community and academic rigor.
This is a part-time, seasonal role with variable hours as needed to support our full time maintenance staff. The hourly rate for this role is $17.00
Position Type: Part-Time, Seasonal (Summer)
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm
Reports To: Director of Facilities
The Summer Custodial/Cleaning Associate supports the daily upkeep and cleanliness of the facility during the busy summer season. This role is ideal for individuals who are reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable performing hands-on work to help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for staff and visitors.
Responsibilities include
- Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, common areas, and high-touch surfaces.
- Assist with light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs or reporting repair needs.
- Support event or program setup and breakdown as needed.
- Maintain outdoor areas (e.g., sweeping walkways, picking up debris) as assigned.
- Restock cleaning and restroom supplies.
- Follow all safety procedures and use cleaning equipment properly.
- Communicate any issues or concerns to the supervisor promptly.
- Prior custodial experience required
- Ability to lift and move items up to 30–40 lbs
- Comfortable working on your feet and performing physical tasks.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Must be available to work throughout the summer season.
Work Environment
- Indoor and occasional outdoor work.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals and physical activity such as bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
