About This Position
Girl Scouts of Central Maryland is seeking responsible and safety focused drivers to support as needed transportation for council programs and special events. Drivers are responsible for safely transporting Girl Scouts, volunteers, and occasionally staff to and from off-site activities using council passenger vans.
This role supports the Girl Scout mission by helping ensure girls have safe access to enriching experiences beyond regular meetings, including field trips, special programs, and community activities. Drivers play an important role in maintaining a safe, supportive, and positive environment while participants travel to and from these events. This is a part time, as needed position. Hours will vary week to week and will include evenings and weekends based on program needs and scheduling.
Safe Transportation
• Safely operate council owned 15 passenger vans to transport Girl Scouts, volunteers, and staff to off-site activities and events
• Follow all traffic laws and Girl Scouts of Central Maryland transportation policies
• Arrive on time for scheduled trips and follow pre planned transportation schedules
• Ensure all passengers are properly seated and secured before the vehicle is in motion
Participant Safety
• Maintain awareness of passenger safety and well-being during transportation
• Support staff and volunteers in maintaining appropriate supervision of participants during travel
• Remain either on-site or nearby during events and return participants safely once activities are completed
Vehicle Care and Safety Checks
• Complete required vehicle safety inspections prior to transporting passengers
• Maintain a clean and organized vehicle
• Report any mechanical issues, damage, or safety concerns immediately
• Complete incident or accident reports if necessary
Program Support
• Work cooperatively with Girl Scouts of Central Maryland staff and volunteers to coordinate transportation needs for events and activities
• Support a respectful and positive environment for participants during travel
• Attend required trainings and complete necessary paperwork prior to transporting participants
Performance Expectations
Success in this role is measured by safe transportation, reliability, and maintaining a positive experience for Girl Scouts, volunteers, and staff during travel.

Requirements:Qualifications
• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required
• Experience operating passenger vans or similar vehicles preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively with youth, volunteers, and staff
• Ability to remain calm, responsible, and safety focused
• Experience working with youth programs or community organizations is preferred
Requirements
• Ability to work part time based on council program and event schedules
• Availability for scheduled trips, which may include evenings and weekends
• Successful completion of background check and required documentation
• Ability to complete required Girl Scouts of Central Maryland training
Physical Requirements
• Ability to safely operate a 15-passenger van
• Ability to assist passengers entering and exiting vehicles if needed
• Ability to lift and move program supplies when required
