Janitorial Technician at International School of Indiana – Indianapolis, Indiana

Job Summary:

The Full Time Janitorial Technician will clean, sanitize, and maintain inside and outside campus facilities on a full time basis.

Hours:

Monday-Friday 6:30am-3pm

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Performs general cleaning and sanitizing tasks and services throughout assigned buildings.
• Uses a cleaning cart to transport cleaning supplies.
• Cleans and disinfects restrooms, classrooms, kitchens, and dining areas.
• Sweeps and dust rooms and hallways.
• Washes furniture, floors, windows, and walls.
• Scrubs and waxes floor and shampoos carpets.
• Picks up litter and trash.
• Ensures building security, locking and unlocking doors for cleaning or special school events after regular hours; checks for unauthorized persons in the building; calls security at opening or closing of the building; checks and locks windows.
• Maintains and cares for assigned work equipment and work areas.
• Loads or unloads supplies and equipment and moves furniture, as required.
• Wipes and dusts surfaces in rooms and cleans mirrors.
• Vacuum and clean floors, rugs, furniture, and drapes.
• Picks up and empties trash containers.
• Maintains a neat and orderly janitor's room; ensures cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked.
• Washes windows.
• Assists in examining school for safety hazards; reports deficiencies to supervisor, Senior Director of IT & Operations, or principal.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Ability to remain discreet and respect the privacy of students, faculty, staff, and guests.
• Sufficient ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English to complete work efficiently, effectively, and courteously.
• 6 months’ housekeeping experience preferred.

Education and Experiences:

• Education is sufficient to read, write, and speak as needed for the job.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
