JOB TITLE: Registered Nurse
POSITION SUMMARY: The Medical Telemetry Registered Nurse provides safe, high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to adult medical and telemetry patients in a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital. The RN utilizes professional nursing judgment, telemetry monitoring skills, and interdisciplinary collaboration to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care across varying levels of acuity. This role works closely with the Emergency Department and offers leadership growth opportunities, including Charge Nurse and progression to House Supervisor responsibilities, based on competency and organizational needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Educate patients and families on medications, treatments, discharge planning, and disease-specific care

Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care in the electronic medical record

Ensure safe handling, administration, and reconciliation of medications, including controlled substances

Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, families, and care team members

Provide comprehensive nursing care to medical, telemetry, and swing bed patients following established standards

Perform ongoing patient assessments, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, and initiate timely interventions

Administer medications and treatments in accordance with provider orders and safety protocols

Prepare patients and equipment for diagnostic testing and assist providers as needed

Participate in quality improvement initiatives, continuing education, and competency development

Adhere to infection prevention, safety, and emergency preparedness protocols

Support efficient patient flow, prioritization, and coordination, especially during night shift operations

Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including providers, case management, ED staff, CNAs, and ancillary departments

Coordinate safe admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring continuity of care

Serve as a role model, mentor, and clinical resource for peers, new staff, and orientees

Provide leadership, guidance, and support to team members to promote teamwork and patient safety

Foster a culture of accountability, respect, psychological safety, and collaboration

Build strong working relationships across departments to enhance patient care delivery
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education:
-
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Preferred Education:
-
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Required Licensure:
-
Current, active Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Specialty Certification:
-
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and telemetry competency preferred or obtained within 90 days of hire
Required Experience:
-
Experience in hospital-based nursing care

Ability to manage multiple patients with varying acuity levels in a fast-paced environment
SKILLS:

Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities

Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and interpretation of cardiac rhythms

Effective communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills

Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities

Comfort working independently, particularly during night shifts

Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to guide and support team members

Ability to remain calm and make sound clinical decisions in high-stress or emergency situations

Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems

Commitment to patient-centered care and professional nursing practice
