Part-Time AmeriCorps Member Position | 300 Hour Service Term
Position SummaryThe Napa County Office of Education is seeking compassionate, motivated, and community-minded individuals to serve as AmeriCorps Members within the Mariposa Program during the 2026–2027 school year.
Mariposa Coaches serve as positive mentors and role models for youth across Napa County school sites, helping students build confidence, connection, leadership skills, and a sense of belonging. Members will work directly with students through mentoring, relationship-building, cultural enrichment activities, and student engagement opportunities.
This role is ideal for individuals interested in education, counseling, youth development, social work, psychology, cultural studies, community leadership, or public service. Members will gain meaningful hands-on experience supporting youth while receiving ongoing coaching, mentorship, and professional development from program leaders.
The Mariposa Program through the Napa County Office of Education focuses on culturally responsive mentoring, prevention education, leadership development, and social-emotional support for youth throughout Napa County. Members may also support student engagement connected to Ballet Folklórico programming and community cultural events.
Service Commitment- 300 Hour AmeriCorps Service Term
- To be completed during the 2026–2027 School Year
- Minimum commitment of 2 service days per week
- Minimum of 12 hours per week
- Additional service days may be available to support coaches in meeting required service hours
- Build positive and supportive mentoring relationships with students across assigned school sites
- Serve as a consistent, caring adult role model for youth
- Support students in developing confidence, leadership skills, communication skills, and positive peer relationships
- Encourage student engagement, participation, and school connectedness
- Assist with small group activities, leadership opportunities, and student-centered discussions
- Support culturally responsive programming and youth engagement activities through the Mariposa Program
- Assist with student participation and engagement in Ballet Folklórico programming and cultural events
- Help create welcoming, inclusive, and positive environments for students and families
- Participate in school-based events, celebrations, performances, and community activities
- Participate in ongoing professional development, coaching, and team trainings
- Gain direct experience in youth mentorship, social-emotional learning, leadership development, and community-based programming
- Collaborate with program staff and fellow AmeriCorps Members to support student success and program goals
- Hands-on experience working directly with youth in school and community settings
- Leadership development and mentorship experience

- Bilingual English/Spanish encouraged but not required
- Must be at least 17 years old
- Must pass all AmeriCorps-required background clearances
- Ability to reliably commute to assigned school sites and program activities
