Job Description

Purpose:

The Senior Manager of Data & Analytics will lead and grow a high-performing team responsible for delivering strategic data solutions across Vanscoy Rare Pharmacy. Reporting to the Director of Data Analytics, this role will oversee data engineering, analytics, and reporting functions. This role will ensure alignment with business goals, regulatory standards, and technology best practices. The Senior Manager will drive innovation, operational excellence, and cross-functional collaboration to enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. The Senior Manager of Data & Analytics will support the organization’s evolving AI and advanced analytics initiatives by identifying opportunities for intelligent automation, anomaly detection, predictive analytics, workflow optimization, and AI-assisted reporting capabilities. This role will partner with operational and executive leadership to evaluate emerging technologies and data-driven strategies that improve reporting efficiency, business intelligence, and decision-making across the organization. AI-enabled capabilities should be implemented with appropriate governance, security, auditability, and human oversight to support operational, compliance, and organizational objectives.

Additionally, the Senior Manager of Data & Analytics will also provide leadership, mentorship, and strategic direction to analysts, engineers, and other data team members while promoting best practices in analytics, data engineering, documentation, and reporting standards. This role may be responsible for prioritizing initiatives, managing departmental workloads, and aligning data and analytics resources with organizational priorities, operational goals, and long-term strategic initiatives.


Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy
  • Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for data engineering and analytics aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Build, lead, and manage a team of data engineers, analysts, and BI specialists.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Project & Stakeholder Management
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders—including pharmacists, business leaders, and IT—to define data needs and deliver impactful solutions.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable data strategies and technical execution plans.
  • Technical Oversight
  • Oversee the design and optimization of data pipelines, data lakes, and data warehouses using Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, and other modern tools.
  • Ensure robust data governance, security, and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Guide the development of dashboards and reports using Power BI and other visualization platforms.
  • Operational Excellence
  • Monitor performance of data infrastructure and analytics workflows, identifying opportunities for efficiency and scalability.
  • Implement quality assurance processes to ensure data accuracy, reliability, and consistency.
  • Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies to enhance data capabilities.
  • Talent Development
  • Provide coaching and career development support to team members.
  • Lead recruitment efforts for new roles within the data & analytics team.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and professional growth through training and mentorship.
  • Data Governance
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise data governance frameworks, including data ownership, stewardship, lineage, retention policies, master data standards, and data quality controls.
  • Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or business intelligence, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Proficiency in Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse Analytics.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with database management systems.
  • Knowledge of Power BI for creating reports and dashboards.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Scala, or Java.
  • Soft Skills:

  • Proven experience managing teams and delivering enterprise-level data solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to lead and mentor data analysts and engineers.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on data quality and accuracy.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Snowflake a plus.
  • Experience with SSIS and Tableau or PowerBI a plus.
  • Certification in Microsoft Azure Data Engineering or related areas.
  • Experience in the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Work Environment

    VRP offers a hybrid work structure, combining remote work and in-office requirements. The frequency of onsite requirements will vary depending on role, operational needs, meetings, client visits, or team collaboration activities. Employees must be within commuting distance to Pittsburgh, PA, and able to report to the office when needed. We will provide advance notice when possible. This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. When telecommuting, employees must have reliable internet access to utilize required systems and software required for the position's responsibilities. The amount of time the employee is expected to work per day or pay period will not change while working from home. Employees are responsible for the set-up of their home office environment, including physical set-up, internet connection, phone line, electricity, lighting, comfortable temperature, furniture, etc. Employee’s teleworking space should be separate and distinct from their “home space” and allow for privacy.
