Location: Mennel Milling Company – Roanoke, VA
Schedule: Full-Time, 11pm-7am; overtime as required

Who You Are

The ideal Shift Miller is a dependable, self‑motivated professional with a strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. You work well independently, take pride in safe and efficient operations, and are committed to maintaining high food safety and quality standards in a manufacturing environment.

What You’ll Do

As a Shift Miller, you will operate and maintain the flour mill under the direction of the Head Miller to ensure safe, efficient production that meets quality specifications. You’ll play a key role in supporting food safety programs while keeping the mill running smoothly during your assigned shift.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Operating and managing flour milling operations and the cleaning house during assigned shifts
  • Running milling units at optimal performance and yields
  • Maintaining wheat and flour inventories to required specifications
  • Performing equipment repairs and troubleshooting issues as needed
  • Ensuring compliance with GMPs, OSHA, HACCP, FSMA, sanitation, and food safety standards
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and audit‑ready work environment
  • Completing production reports and following all SOPs
  • Attending all required training sessions
  • Covering for the Head Miller and/or Mill Operator when needed
  • Supporting Mennel’s Mission, Motto, and Food Safety & Quality Statement
  • Performing other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience in flour milling, food production, or manufacturing preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience (2+ years) preferred but not required
  • Ability to pass a respirator fit test and perform duties while wearing a respirator
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Understanding of material flow and manufacturing processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer systems
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
