Position Summary:
The Department of Computer Science at the University of NewMexico is seeking a highly motivated and energetic professional to serve as thedepartment's Sr. Fiscal Services Tech. The Department of Computer Scienceis a research-active academic department and requires a Sr. Fiscal ServicesTech to assist with a wide variety of accounting functions and administrativeprocesses.
The individual in this position will initiate, process, andmaintain records of a variety of complex fiscal, budgetary, and associatedtransactions, in direct support of the accountantand department administrator. This individual will investigate andresolve problems related to funds, budgets, expenditures, and procurementpractices, and provide reports and analyses on complex fiscal issues, asassigned. It is critical that the individual be able to provideassistance in the development, implementation, and management of fiscalsystems and procedures, applying basic concepts, methods, andtechniques.
The successful candidate will be dependableand team-oriented, have excellent attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills, and collaborateeffectively with a wide range of individuals in a very diverse work environment.

General Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducts department purchasing and reimbursement transactions and reviews purchasing documents for availability of funding, mathematical correctness, and compliance with University policy and state and federal funding requirements.
- Monitors revenue and expenses for departmental accounts; ensures expenditure control and compliance with funding and reporting requirements, University policy, and standard accounting procedures.
- Creates and processes department graduate assistantship contracts, monitors contract funding sources and completes adjustments as necessary.
- Responds to requests and concerns regarding fiscal transactions; analyzes and provides reports and correspondence on unresolved problems.
- Interacts with and trains department staff regarding financial policies and procedures; serves as liaison with client department representatives, vendors, funding source representatives in the resolution of financial issues.
- Maintains confidentiality of appropriate records, contracts, documents, and data in compliance with Federal, State, and University regulations and policies.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

- Experience with UNM accounting systems and processes (Banner, MyReports, Workflow, ePAFs, Labor Distributions, JVs, Chrome River, LoboMart)

- Experience preparing and monitoring budgets using finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control procedures.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- Experience with UNM purchasing card and related policies.
- Experience reconciling, balancing and maintaining standard accounting records.
- Ability to use independent judgment and to manage confidential information.
