About This Position

JOB SUMMARY

The Foster Postsecondary Success Associate will support key projects, ensure smooth data reporting, and document completion to ensure that the containers that support innovation for opportunity youth are healthy, powerful, and productive.

This part-time role averages 20 hours per week and offers flexibility in how those hours are scheduled. Work can be extended over 3 to 5 days (Monday-Friday), as long as the schedule is regular and within the hours of 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.

This is a hybrid work environment, with some in person meetings in the Twin Cities with sporadic travel to different parts of Minnesota.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Working with Foster Youth:

  • Support youth with inquiries by providing timely and accurate support
  • Assist with Onboarding, Success Series, Mid Semester Check-in, Academic Milestone Review, and other program initiatives.
  • Track student progress and assist in identifying students who need additional support or resources
  • Maintain accurate records of student interactions and support needs

Working with Community Partners:

  • Support relationships with youth leadership groups by scheduling meetings, supporting calls for transportation, following up with people who missed, notetaking meetings and other related tasks
  • Hold workshops or focus groups to better understand youth goals or perspectives
  • Connect with young people to support paperwork completion, surveys, focus groups, etc.
  • Distribute incentives as necessary.

Communications & Data Support:

  • Support data entry for the Foster Postsecondary Success program
  • Collaborate with the Foster Postsecondary Success Manager on tracking payments for the Education and Training Voucher (ETV) grants
  • Follow up on missing paperwork and accurately submit youth payment invoices following a consistent and approved process
  • Create basic flyers and social media drafts for particular Foster Postsecondary Programming Canva
  • Manage the Remind (text messaging) app. Organize and send out appropriate messages as directed
  • Aggregate necessary reporting for grants and reports
  • Support the development and delivery of communication materials to ensure clear and consistent trauma-informed messaging
  • Support the creation and distribution of marketing materials for foster youth and community outreach such as flyers, social media posts, Remind messages, and newsletters

Coordination:

  • Assist with the implementation of events including logistics and communication
  • Assist in preparing and producing reports and communication materials required for grant reports, research, communication, and social media
  • Cultivate excellent working relationships with young people, senior education, workforce development leaders, employers, government leaders, and other key community leaders involved in this initiative
  • Support with intergenerational meeting coordination
  • Support CEU trainings with registration, outreach, surveys, and graphics.

Other duties as assigned or apparent.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Four year college degree and currently pursuing a graduate degree, ideally in education, social sciences, public policy, or another similar program

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Ability to build strong relationships across various stakeholder groups
  • Demonstrated desire to support advocacy and policy development
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to use current technology efficiently (Microsoft Suite: Outlook, Excel, & Word; Google Suite: Slides, Docs, & Sheets; Remind; Canva)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • The capacity to share necessary and impactful experiences to propel work while upholding distinct personal and professional limits is essential
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and/or willingness to be coached in this area
  • Demonstrated ability to be at ease with individuals representing a broad spectrum of beliefs, backgrounds and ideologies to work in crafting solutions and/or willingness to be coached in this area

Preferred Qualification: Lived experience in foster care

Working Conditions and Environment:

  • This is a hybrid position with the in-office component in an accessible office building that is smoke-free
  • Work is performed in an office setting, where the incumbent may be exposed to noise and a regular flow of people. Headaches, eyestrain, and other related occupational hazards reflect the most common potential for injury.
  • Work is light duty and sedentary, with the ability to lift, carry, or push during setup for meetings and events
  • This position may be frequently exposed to mental effort and stress, assigned to changing priorities, and perform work requiring attention to detail under deadlines
  • The ability to operate and interact with computers or other office equipment via keyboard, mouse, or touch screen is required
