About This Position
We are seeking a Carpenter to work onsite supporting maintenance and construction operations at a secure industrial facility in Lynchburg, VA. This position will construct, fabricate, install, and repair structures along with other miscellaneous carpentry tasks.
Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance, including federal drug & alcohol screening requirements, and must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship. Carpenters will work on Jamerson-Lewis projects in and around Lynchburg, during the security clearance process.
The Carpenter responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Plans and performs standard to moderately complex rough and finish carpentry tasks necessary to construct, install, or repair structures along with other miscellaneous carpentry tasks. This includes, but is not limited to, installation of wall framing, door frames, hardware, doors, casework, trim, and specialties.
- Reads and understands specifications in building plans.
- Selects and utilizes appropriate hand and power tools and materials required to complete jobs.
- Follows and enforces all Jamerson-Lewis safety procedures and policies
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to use a variety of construction and maintenance tools and equipment to complete job-site tasks
- Must be able to determine the appropriate tool or piece of equipment for each task
- Must be able to listen and follow instructions while working as a part of a team
Experience, Education, & Certifications
- High School Diploma
- 1-4 years of experience working as a carpenter on commercial or industrial projects
- Valid Driver’s License required
- Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship and must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.

Working Conditions:
Construction setting, full time. Must have the ability to crawl, climb, walk, reach with hands and arms, bend, kneel, crouch, stand for longs periods of time, lift and hold more than 50lbs, talk, hear, and occasionally sit. Must have the ability to withstand confined spaces and or/extreme heights while negotiating tasks at hand in a safe manner to themselves and/or others. Subject to hot, cold, humid, and wet conditions depending on location.

Position requires U.S. citizenship with (no dual citizenship) ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation, drug test and previous employment reference verifications.
