About This Position
JOB TITLE: Safety Engineer
DEPARTMENT: Engineering
REPORTS TO: Manufacturing Engineering Manager
POSITION SUMMARY: The Safety Engineer is responsible for developing/maintaining procedures and systems to protect employees and company property.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Continued development and implementation of health and safety programs for the company, providing leadership and technical assistance to operations, engineering, quality, maintenance, and hourly personnel attain safety, production, quality, and cost goals.
2. Company compliance with Process Safety Management, to include leading and documenting Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) efforts for new and existing programs, managing/coordinating/ implementing all 14 elements of the OSHA Process Safety Management standard, oversight/auditing, and leadership of incident investigations/root cause analyses.
3. Ensuring company compliance with DOD 4145.26M, to include site safety plans
4. Ability to effectively communicate across different functional groups
5. Demonstrate skills in time management and managing multiple priorities/tasks
6. Willingness to work extended hours when needed to meet deadlines
7. Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
8. Proficiency in MS computer applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
9. Background in preparing and presenting effective employee training programs
10. Willingness to attend training and refreshers as needed
11. Regular attendance is required
12. Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
13. Perform all other duties that may be assigned or needed
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
POSITION TYPE:
This is a Salary Exempt full-time position.

Minimal Travel Required
Requirements:REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree with focus in Occupational Safety or Industrial/Mechanical Engineering preferred, or 5 or more years of equivalent experience in a similar managerial level role for a manufacturing facility.
Knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR and DOD 4145.26M compliance requirements.
