This role offers a high-impact opportunity for a senior business development professional to drive growth within a specialized workers’ compensation insurance market. Focused on the Northern California territory, you will be responsible for expanding agency relationships, developing strategic marketing plans, and supporting profitable new business acquisition. You will act as a trusted advisor to broker partners, helping them understand and effectively position insurance solutions. Operating in a field-based, high-travel environment, the role combines autonomy with strategic influence across a key regional market. You will collaborate closely with internal underwriting and product teams while representing a well-established insurance portfolio. - Develop and execute territory business plans to drive new business growth and ensure strong renewal retention within the assigned Northern California market.
- Build, manage, and strengthen relationships with insurance agencies and brokers, positioning tailored workers’ compensation solutions to meet their needs.
- Deliver engaging presentations and one-on-one consultations to educate partners on products, market positioning, and competitive advantages.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities, risks, and emerging trends that support strategic decision-making.
- Prospect, appoint, and manage agency partnerships to expand distribution and improve overall territory performance.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align underwriting, marketing, and sales strategies for optimal business outcomes.
- Maintain high levels of broker engagement and satisfaction through consistent communication and value-added support.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3–6 years of experience in business development, sales, or marketing, preferably within workers’ compensation or insurance.
- Strong understanding of underwriting, claims, or loss control processes is an asset.
- Proven ability to manage complex territory-based sales cycles and develop long-term client relationships.
- Excellent presentation, negotiation, and communication skills with the ability to influence key stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and translate insights into strategy.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 60% annually, including occasional overnight travel.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently under limited supervision and manage competing priorities.
