OVERVIEW

The Accounting & Reporting Manager is responsible for monitoring and evaluating day-to-day accounting activities and monthly financial reporting. This position will collaborate with the Director of Finance to assure effective financial reporting and compliance with all financial regulations and procedures, develop and maintain accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Accounting & Reporting Manager addresses tight deadlines and accounting activities, such as general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation, and the support of budget and forecast activities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Develop and maintain effective internal controls over financial reporting, including review of transactions and account reconciliations Manage financial close process and review month end working papers performed by accounting staffPrepare and review journal entries Work with the Controller to ensure clean and timely month end reporting and year end auditAssist in preparing and reviewing monthly, quarterly and annual external financial reporting, including drafting consolidated financial statements and related notesPrepare deferred tax working papersRespond to and resolve inquiries and issues related to financial reporting; provide financial accounting analysis/support for operational transactions and budget/forecast activitiesAssist in establishing the Company’s accounting policies and procedures in conjunction with the Accounting and Operations teams, assess impact of new IFRS standards, prepare technical accounting memos, develop necessary policy compliance procedures, and train staff as requiredMonitors the effectiveness of internal controls and internal processes as they pertain to the overall accounting function and participates in the review and implementation of further internal controls and best practicesCommunicate effectively with all appropriate operational departmentsPrepare and present variance analysis and CAPEX budget Review and approval of daily purchase ordersAdministration of accounting software, banking, payments and credit cardsParticipate in monthly P&L review meetings with department leadsReview the work of accounting staff, assisting in their career development through effective on-the-job coaching and deliver clear motivating and constructive feedback in a timely mannerLiaises with auditors for interim and annual audit requirementsSupport various special projects as they ariseOther duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting, CPA requiredAt least 2 years of managerial experience, with a proven ability to mentor staffPrevious work experience in big 4 public practice firm preferred Ability to multitask, takes initiative, work under pressure and meet deadlines as requiredAbility to work with minimal direction and is team orientedPrevious experience within hospitality and/or casino operations is idealExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalExcellent time management and organizational skillsHigh level of Microsoft Excel proficiency


CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES REQUIREMENTS

    Ability to obtain a valid GPEB license Ability to complete all BCLC required Training and LicensingServing it Right Certification


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Able to lift, handle, and transport materials that are over 20lbsRequired to sit, stand and walk during working hours Available to work on evenings/weekends when needed
