About This Position

Description:

Overview

The Project Engineer assists the Project Managers with all tasks related to construction projects. This includes sales takeoffs, ordering parts, attending meetings, field coordination, processing POs, job cost tracking and other project related tasks. The PE must fully understand the construction process and how a project comes together to ensure a smooth installation process. The Project Engineer will work closely with project managers, field personnel, design engineers and program engineers to ensure the success of the project.

Job Responsibilities

The following list captures the general responsibilities; however, each project has different specifications, goals, environmental conditions, and financial considerations.

  • Perform sales takeoffs and initial project estimates which are reviewed by the sales team.
  • Prepare and process project startup paperwork and internal adjustments.
  • Review project plans and scope with the Project Manager to determine and understand project objectives.
  • Oversee field coordination to ensure project schedule is met.
  • Attend project meetings and coordinate project design / submittals through approval process.
  • Review project material list and prepare ordering requests.
  • Manage and track project costs to ensure project is on budget, with the help of the Project Manager.
  • Address all technical questions and concerns from field personnel and facilitate general project communication.
  • In all job activities, maintain project integrity and company reputation through compliance with industry and company standards and best practices as defined by the company leadership.
Requirements:

Education & Experience Requirements/Preferences

Required: BS in Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering Preferred: 2 - 4+ years of related (HVAC, building controls, construction) work experience

Technical Requirements

  • Knowledge and understanding of all HVAC systems as it relates to controls.
  • Advanced knowledge of control systems and design principles.
  • Ability to interpret HVAC mechanical plans and specifications.
  • Good project visualization and schematic design skills required.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office.
  • Proficiency in technical writing.
  • Ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Mechanical aptitude and engineering common sense is a necessity.
  • Knowledge of Automated Logic ecosystem a plus.

  • Must have good organization, multitasking and time management skills.

  • Attention to detail and willingness to coordinate and confirm project details and assumptions
  • Enjoy diverse working environments and occasionally being on construction sites.
  • Be able to work on multiple projects in parallel with varying schedule constraints.
  • Think logically, be flexible, and possess common sense.
  • Must have a valid California Driver's License and a clean record.
