Data Analyst Co-Op at Mobis North American LLC – Plymouth, Michigan

COMPANY OVERVIEW:

MOBIS Technical Center of North America is the Research & Development Center for Hyundai MOBIS, a Tier 1 supplier and an affiliate under Hyundai Motor Group. MOBIS produces and supplies a wide variety of automotive components to customers including component modules (chassis, cockpit and front-end module), core systems, eco-friendly and DAS-mechatronics. MOBIS delivers the design and development of advanced engineering, autonomous driving, infotainment, component modules, safety, brake and steering systems, lamp, ICS/electronics, and software development solutions that consider the safety and convenience of our customers as well as the future.

REPORTS TO: Department Manager / Team Lead

FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Hourly, Non-Exempt

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS:

Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Support data analysis activities across engineering and business teams.

• Clean, organize, and validate datasets to ensure accuracy and usability.

• Perform basic statistical analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights.

• Develop data visualizations, charts, and reports to support decision-making.

• Utilize Python, MATLAB, or both to automate workflows and analyze data.

• Work with tools such as NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, or MATLAB toolboxes.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and deliver actionable insights.

• Assist in documenting processes, methodologies, and analysis results.

ADDITIONAL REQUIRED SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS:

• Strong programming skills in MATLAB, Python, or both.

• Familiarity with data analysis libraries and toolsets (NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, MATLAB toolboxes).

• Understanding of basic statistics, data cleaning, and visualization principles.

• Ability to work with large datasets and maintain data integrity.

• Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.

• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new tools and technologies.

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION / YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Primarily office and engineering lab environment.

• May require extended periods of computer work, data review, and documentation.

• Occasional onsite support at MTCA or OEM facilities as needed.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

• Standard business hours with flexibility based on project needs and academic schedule.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Office work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.

TRAVEL:

• Occasional international travel

• Frequent local travel
