JOB TYPE: Full-time

LOCATION: VA US (Primary)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

About VAE & ITPIE

At VAE, our mission is to provide superior technical execution to support our customers' success. We don't just manage networks; we reinvent them. Our flagship product, ITPIE (Information Technology Programmable Integration Engine), is a revolutionary "Source of Truth" platform that automates discovery, compliance, and visualization for Internet-scale infrastructure.

The Role: A Linux-Centric Product Creator

We are seeking a Software Developer who lives at the intersection of Linux systems, network engineering, and security compliance. This is not a "maintenance" role. We are looking for a "Builder"—someone who has a proven track record of developing self-initiated technical solutions that are currently utilized by large enterprises or government agencies.

You will help design, build, and evolve Apps within the ITPIE Axiom ecosystem that deliver automated STIG compliance and configuration validation across some of the world's most complex defense networks.

What You’ll Do

  • Build the Solution: Design and evolve applications within the Django framework to assess STIG compliance against real-world network configurations.
  • Manage the Stack: Develop and optimize backend processes using Celery and Redis to handle high-concurrency tasks across 100k+ devices.
  • Scale Innovation: Take lessons learned from your own self-developed enterprise tools to improve ITPIE’s performance, data handling, and user adoption.
  • Automated Remediation: Transform compliance from a static report into a living capability by integrating automated "self-healing" and remediation workflows.
  • Enterprise Integration: Build vendor-agnostic APIs to ingest data from diverse hardware into a unified PostgreSQL or Graph-based model.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications

  • The "Creator" Profile: Must demonstrate experience developing and deploying a self-initiated software solution that has been successfully adopted by a large enterprise or DoD entity.
  • Primary Technical Stack:
    • Advanced Python: Mastery of Python is critical, specifically within the Django framework.
    • Linux Expertise: Heavy experience working in RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) environments.
    • Data & Messaging: Proficiency with PostgreSQL, Celery, and Redis for distributed task processing and data management.
  • Systems Thinking: Ability to understand how large-scale networks introduce complexity in performance, concurrency, and data handling.

Ideal Qualifications (The "Plus" Factors)

  • Army Network Experience: Direct experience working with or developing for Army Enterprise networks is a significant advantage.
  • Network Engineering: Understanding of the OSI model and experience with Network Operating Systems (Cisco, Juniper, etc.).
  • Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of STIGs, RMF, or regulated defense environments.
  • Modern DevTools: Familiarity with Git-based workflows and Docker for containerized deployments.

What Success Looks Like

  • Integration: You successfully map complex compliance logic to real network configurations within the Django/RHEL stack.
  • Performance: You optimize Celery/Redis workflows to ensure high-velocity processing of enterprise-scale data.
  • Influence: You act as a bridge between network engineers and developers to shape the long-term automation strategy.

Work Environment

  • Remote-First environment with a collaborative office space in Northern Virginia available.
  • Fast-paced, innovative culture with exposure to enterprise-level systems and DoD processes.
  • Respect for work/life balance with competitive compensation and clear growth opportunities.
