Job Description
The Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine (PACCSM) at the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC are seeking NIH scientists, physicians, and physician scientists at the level of Assistant Professor, outside the tenure stream. PACCSM is seeking established investigators with a proven track record in extramural NIH funding and mentoring of junior investigators. Attractive resources are available to establish a vibrant research program.
PACCSM supports active basic and clinical research programs in asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis, sleep disorders, ILD, and ARDS/ALI, and fellowship training at major teaching hospitals, UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, the Oakland VA Medical Center, and UPMC Shadyside Hospital.
Physician/Faculty Member will practice in a dual capacity, including clinical, teaching,
and service components. Physicians will practice in both inpatient and outpatient settings (70%)
Teaching-Administration (25%) and Service (5%)
General rank requirements: Applicants for Assistant Professor, non-tenure, should have three or more years of experience in related scientific research; have obtained or demonstrate the ability to obtain external research funding; have disseminated results through peer-reviewed publications and other scientific forums; have significant teaching experience; and demonstrate the capacity for sustained career development, promotion, and tenure.
The qualifiedCandidatee must be board certified in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine, eligible for licensure in Pennsylvania and research interest in Pulmonary, Allergy, Sleep and Critical Care Medicine. Academic rank is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
