About This Position

Description:

The Events Manager plays a key role in delivering seamless, high-quality events at both the Air & Space Museum and Exploration of Flight locations. In the events industry, the “Manager” title reflects responsibility for on-site event execution and logistics, rather than direct people management.

This is a hands-on, shift-based role responsible for leading day-of-event operations, including coordinating Wings staff, volunteers, and external vendors. Responsibilities include managing event logistics such as deliveries, traffic flow, load-in and set-up, troubleshooting in real time, and ensuring a smooth event close.

Events Managers are part of the Corporate Events team and report to the Director of Corporate Sales & Events. They work closely with Event Sales and Operations Manager, Facilities and other cross-functional teams to ensure a consistent and exceptional guest experience.

Work Schedule: variable (shift bidding)* *This position requires signing-up for open shifts to include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Shift assignments are awarded on a first-come/first-serve basis. Event scheduling and frequency is variable and subject to change. Wings Over the Rockies makes every effort to provide open shifts but cannot guarantee work due to event availability, client cancellations/rescheduling, weather conditions, Museum closures, etc.

Requirements:

  • Lead on-site event execution, coordinating staff, volunteers, and external vendors (e.g., catering, A/V, entertainment, security) to ensure seamless event delivery
  • Serve as the central point of communication during events, maintaining clear, professional interactions with clients, vendors, guests, and internal teams
  • Anticipate and respond to event needs in real time, ensuring a smooth, high-quality experience for guests and clients
  • Oversee event logistics, including deliveries, load-in/set-up, traffic flow, and breakdown/closing procedures
  • Ensure facility readiness and security, including opening and securing spaces and following established safety and security protocols
  • Safeguard museum assets and exhibits, maintaining a safe and respectful environment for guests and staff
  • Support compliance with applicable policies, including alcohol service guidelines and event-specific requirements
  • Respond to incidents or emergencies as needed, following established procedures and directing guests and staff appropriately
  • Operate and monitor building systems, including alarms and related equipment, as part of event operations
  • Execute event-specific technical and operational needs, such as coordinating power access and supporting unique setup requirements (e.g., aircraft access)

Required Qualifications (Minimum Qualifications)

Requirements

  • Must be able to work at least one (1) shift every ninety (90) days to remain an active employee
  • Strong verbal communication skills with a professional and confident presence
  • Ability to multi-task effectively and communicate in fast-paced, noisy, or high-pressure environments
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a proactive, solution-oriented approach
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage time effectively
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to walk extensive distances (up to 180,000 sq. ft.) and remain on your feet for extended periods (up to 10 hours) in varying environmental conditions
  • Ability to push, pull, squat, and lift 35+ lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in event services, hospitality, or a related field
  • First Aid/AED and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain; training provided by Wings)
  • Basic understanding of electrical connectivity and event power needs
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications

Compensation and Benefits

The hiring for this part-time position is $19.00 per hour. + $4/hour shift differential premium for night shifts (12am ~ 6am)

  • Periods of standing, walking and moving throughout exhibit spaces
