JOB DESCRIPTION

Job TitleRecovery House Apartment ManagerReports to:PSH Sober Living Program ManagerNon-Exempt/Wages$14.42 per hour for 20 hours per week. Free employer-housing provided.JOB SUMMARY

To work with residents of the Recovery House to maintain a sober, recovery-oriented environment, and to ensure the needs of the residents are being met.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Value cultural competence and diversity:

a. Collaborate with staff, members, and the community to gain the perspectives of others having diverse opinions, abilities, values, beliefs, perspective, and ethnic or cultural backgrounds.

b. Take deliberate steps to increase their own cultural competency by attending training, events, discussions, workshops, etc.


2. Member Support Duties:

a. Maintain systems of mutual support and accountability established by program leadership in collaboration with the residents.

i. Facilitate regular house meetings to discuss recovery and sobriety, interpersonal issues, housekeeping, etc.

ii. Monitor participation in program activities and attendance of external meetings (e.g., 12-step meetings).

b. In both one-on-one and group settings, offer peer support and accountability, as well as encouragement to overcome obstacles and follow through with commitments.

c. Build trust and community among residents through regular activities such as house meals and projects.

d. Regularly solicit member feedback to respond to the changing needs of individual members over time.

e. Ensure the house is safe, clean, and functional, including all common areas and individual rooms by:

i. Facilitating a chore rotation

ii. Coordinating with Property Management

iii. Hiring housekeeping services as needed

f. Support the Program Manager and Recovery Support Coordinator.

g. Be available after hours to assist members who are struggling with their sobriety in crisis situations.

h. Must be available to all residents in case of emergency, particularly overnight and on weekends.

i. Maintain positive relations with neighbors and the surrounding community.

j. Ensure secure storage of resident medication and facilitate access regularly and as needed.


3. Public/Staff Relations:

a. Communicate with internal and external partners utilizing telephone, email, and chat.

b. Communicate regularly with the Permanent Supportive Housing team to meet the needs of residents.

c. Develop effective working relationships with human services organizations.


4. Other duties as a member of the PSH Sober Living team:

a. Attend all staff and supervision meetings.

b. Maintain good attendance and inform supervisor in advance of time off.

c. Complete Relias Learning courses by deadline.

d. Follow all Personnel Policies and uphold Park Center’s Code of Ethics.

e. Perform all other duties assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

· Must identify as a person in recovery from mental illness, addiction, or both.

· Must be certified by Tennessee as a Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) or be willing to obtain that credential within 6 months of hire.

· Able to demonstrate strong understanding of and commitment to sobriety, peer support principles, and ethical behaviors.

· Must have proven written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy.

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· Must have a valid Tennessee Driver’s License.

· Must be able to show proof of personal automobile insurance.


WORKING CONDITIONS

· Able to operate with many distractions.

· Routine office environment.

· Able/willing to use vehicle to transport members.

· Able/willing to operate a large van/bus to transport clients.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

· The ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.

· The ability to navigate stairs and uneven terrain.

· The ability to operate with many distractions.

· The ability to use vehicle to travel to different sites.
