Vegetation Management Technician (VMT) at Ace Vegetation Control Services Ltd – Nisku, Alberta

Season: Early May to end of August (with possible extension into the fall)
Training/Start Location: Nisku, Alberta (training begins early May)

YOU MUST HAVE A VALID CANADIAN CLASS 5 DRIVER’S LICENSE FOR A MINIMUM OF 2 YEARS.
This is a non-negotiable condition required by the insurance industry to be eligible for hire.

• Work away from home across Western Canada for extended periods

• Herbicide application and vegetation/weed management

• Weed identification, documentation, and record keeping

• Inventory and equipment management

• Operate and maintain equipment

• Professional customer interaction and public relations

Applicants must be able to:

• Be 18 years of age or older

• Pass a Drug (Cannabis) and Alcohol test

• Hold a valid Canadian Class 5 driver’s license (minimum 2 years)

• Provide a driver’s abstract acceptable to our insurer

• Have Standard First Aid Level C with AED

• Have H2S Alive

• Have CSO / CSTS 2020

• UTV Safety Training

• Herbicide Applicator License (BC, AB, SK, MB)

• Wildlife/Bear Awareness

• Class 1 or 3 driver’s license

• Confined Space

• Can work outdoors for long hours, including overtime

• Work well with others on a crew

Staff are paid hourly ($20–$25/hour depending on experience).
Estimated full-season earnings (based on prior seasons) include:

• 1st Year VMT: $14,000–$18,000 + meal allowance

• 2nd Year VMT: $16,000–$22,000 + meal allowance

• 3rd Year VMT: $19,000–$24,000 + meal allowance

Accommodation and meal allowances are provided while working away from home base.
