Position Summary:
Under specific direction, this position will perform routine repetitive laboratory tasks, which may include the preparation of laboratory supplies and equipment, and other related duties as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists teams and core staff with all aspects of laboratory projects and experiments using standard laboratory techniques under supervision
- Prepares media, reagents, and routine chemical solutions.
- Cleans and sterilizes laboratory glassware.
- May assist in routine laboratory experiments.
- Perform other related tasks, duties and responsibilities as required, assigned or directed.
- Assist with autoclaving, media/buffer preparations, stocking and maintenance of inventory/supplies, and other related duties and tasks, as required
- Assist in the preparation ofgenomcDNA from mouse tail samples and perform PCR genotyping
- Assist in transfection experiments
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience
Experience: Prior laboratory experience and/or completion of a college level biological science course are preferred.
Certifications, Licenses, etc: None
Other Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
- Willingness and ability to work with rodents, biohazardous material and/or potential carcinogens
- Work independently as well as in a team environment
- Be responsible, organized, and possess strong attention to detail
- Possess strong time management and organizational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional proficiency in Microsoft Office

The space adheres to strict safety protocols, with personal protective equipment (PPE) provided and mandatory for all personnel.
The atmosphere is typically collaborative, fostering teamwork and communication among researchers. Workstations are organized for efficiency, with designated areas for specific tasks such as sample preparation, analysis, and data management. The laboratory maintains a clean and orderly space, emphasizing adherence to hygiene and safety standards.
Regular training sessions and meetings are conducted to keep staff updated on best practices and new technologies. Overall, the laboratory environment is dynamic, requiring adaptability and attention to detail, with a strong focus on innovation and research excellence.
Physical Requirements:
The role in the laboratory may require specific physical capabilities, including:
- Standing and Walking: Ability to stand for extended periods and move between different workstations.
- Lifting and Carrying: Capability to lift and carry equipment and materials, typically up to 25 pounds, with occasional heavier items.
- Manual Dexterity: Proficiency in using fine motor skills for handling delicate instruments and samples.
- Repetitive Motions: Comfort with repetitive tasks, such as pipetting or using laboratory machinery.
- Visual Acuity: Ability to distinguish colors and details in specimens and data.
- Bending and Stooping: Flexibility to reach and access equipment or samples stored at various heights.

Work Location: This is an onsite position; candidates must be willing to work onsite in San Diego.
Compensation: The expected hiring range for this position is $20/hour commensurate with relevant experience.
