Senior Manager, Security Operations (Hybrid)
Senior Manager, Security Operations
The Senior Manager, Security Operations, is responsible for ensuring the protection of the organization's information and technology assets. This role leads security operations and partners across the organization to reduce risk, respond effectively to threats, and mature security practices in support of the organization's mission. The position requires strong judgment, collaborative leadership, and the ability to translate technical risk into clear, actionable guidance for business and executive stakeholders.
This position is based in Pew's Washington, DC office and reports to the Director, Infrastructure Operations and Security. This position participates in Pew's hybrid work program with core days in the office and the flexibility to telework the remaining days. Staff also enjoy four telework "flex weeks" per year.
Key Responsibilities
Security Operations Leadership: Lead a hybrid security operations function, ensuring effective monitoring, threat detection, vulnerability and threat exposure management, and incident response across cloud and hybrid environments.
Governance and Risk Partnership: Retain accountability for core security governance activities while partnering with legal, compliance, and business stakeholders to address risk management, regulatory requirements, and third‑party risk.
Incident Management: Provide leadership across the incident response lifecycle, ensuring coordinated, timely, and business‑aligned response to security events.
People and Culture: Build and lead a high‑performing, learning‑oriented security team and promote organization‑wide security awareness and engagement.
Executive Advisory: Provide strategic cybersecurity guidance and risk‑based recommendations to senior leadership to support informed decision‑making.
Responsibilities
Travel
Occasional travel between Pew's offices for meetings as required. Additional travel required to attend trainings, seminars or conferences.
Salary Range
$170,700 USD - $190,800 USD
The salary range represents a reasonable estimate of the annual salary based on Pew's commitment to provide equitable and market-competitive pay. The actual salary offered will take into consideration many factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills and experience, internal pay equity, and business need.

Responsibilities
- Generally, requires a minimum of 8 years of professional experience, including staff, project, and/or consultant management experience; bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree or relevant professional certifications encouraged.
- 8-10 years of progressive experience in IT or cybersecurity, including leadership of security operations or security programs.
- Demonstrated experience securing cloud and hybrid environments using industry standards and best practices.

- Strong understanding of security operations, risk management, incident response, and modern security technologies.

- Demonstrated emotional intelligence, collaboration, and the ability to build trust with stakeholders and teams.
