Cook - Unity Meals at Freshlunches – Northridge, California

As a Cook you are responsible for performing food preparation while following safe handling policies, procedures, and recipes. The cook also keeps the kitchen organized and running efficiently.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare ingredients for cooking including chopping and peeling vegetables
• Prepare food in accordance with recipes including washing, measuring, weighing, and mixing ingredients
• Constantly checks food while cooking
• Ensure that all food and other items are properly stored
• Ensure that food is ready for delivery according to schedule
• Follow proper food handling and sanitation procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Abilities

• Experience using various kitchen equipment and cutting tools
• Ability to identify and differentiate food items
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to perform multiple tasks at once
• Ability to read, write, and understand directions
• Able to work in a fast-paced work environment
• Ability to communicate effectively and work with management and team members
• Prior cooking experience is preferred

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, carry and move objects that may weigh up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand, bend and walk throughout the entire workday
• Able to withstand extreme temperatures within the kitchen that could range up to 100 degrees

Certifications

• Food Handler Certificate; required to be maintained throughout employment
