About This Position
The Buyer is responsible for managing the procurement of materials, components, and indirect goods and services to support manufacturing operations. This role ensures timely availability of materials, supports cost optimization initiatives, and maintains strong supplier relationships. The position works closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, maintenance, and operations to ensure efficient procurement processes and uninterrupted production.
Key Responsibilities- Manage procurement of materials and components, including mechanical parts, electronic components, and indirect goods and services (e.g., MRO, facility supplies, tools, and services)
- Execute sourcing activities, including supplier identification, RFQs, price analysis, negotiation, and purchase order issuance
- Ensure purchased materials and services meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to support operational needs
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms to achieve cost savings and mitigate supply risks
- Monitor inventory levels of critical materials and coordinate replenishment to support production requirements
- Partner with planning and operations teams to align procurement activities with production schedules
- Manage purchase orders through the full lifecycle, including order placement, tracking, and issue resolution
- Coordinate with internal teams and suppliers to support three-way matching (PO, receipt, invoice) and timely payment processing
- Maintain accurate procurement records within ERP systems
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and applicable regulations
- Partner with engineering, maintenance, facilities, and operations teams to understand requirements and support business needs
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field
- 2 years of experience in procurement or purchasing, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Experience supporting procurement of both direct materials (BOM) and indirect goods/services
- Proficiency in ERP or procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Coupa)
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel or similar tools
- Understanding of procurement processes including sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiation
- Negotiation: Ability to negotiate pricing and supplier agreements effectively
- Analytical Thinking: Strong data analysis and cost evaluation skills
- Organization: Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Communication: Effective collaboration with internal stakeholders and suppliers
- Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve procurement and supply-related issues
- Experience in electronics or high-volume manufacturing environments
- Experience with cost analysis, budgeting, and inventory optimization
- Professional certifications (e.g., CPSM, CPM) are a plus
