Job Description
The HIP Operator is responsible for the safe and accurate operation of Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) equipment. This role focuses on loading parts, preparing bases, running cycles, completing documentation, and ensuring all work follows process sheets and customer specifications.
Essential Functions:
• Operates HIP units by loading parts, preparing setups, verifying bases, and running cycles according to process sheets.
• Monitors HIP cycles throughout the shift, checks equipment status, and reports any issues immediately.
• Follows written specifications; initials and dates all required documentation including quantities, lot numbers, cycle numbers, and part condition.
• Completes all paperwork accurately at the end of each HIP cycle.
• Performs pre-HIP and post-HIP inspections to ensure parts match router and customer requirements.
• Operates cranes, hoists, power tools, and related equipment safely and correctly.
• Performs gas analysis and records results when required by the process.
• Maintains accurate logs of cycle data, equipment readings, and shift activity.
• Supports 6S by organizing tools, maintaining clean work areas, labeling storage locations, and ensuring all equipment is returned to its designated place.
• Conducts routine cleaning and inspection tasks to maintain a safe, efficient HIP environment.
• Wears all required PPE including gloves, safety glasses, and protective clothing.
• Follows all OSHA, MTI, and SOS safety rules and reports unsafe conditions immediately.
• Handles equipment and tools with care to prevent damage or safety hazards.
• Assists operators with proper loading techniques, paperwork, and safe work practices.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Production Manager, or Director of Operations.
Requirements:• High school diploma/GED or equivalent; experience in furnace, HIP, or heat-treating operations preferred.
• Basic understanding of industrial equipment, heat-treating processes, or mechanical operations.
• Ability to read and follow process sheets, routers, and customer drawings.
• Familiarity with power tools, hoists, cranes, and material-handling equipment.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to complete accurate documentation.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work well with other operators and support team workflow.
• Organized, dependable, and able to handle multiple tasks during a shift.
• Ability to meet deadlines and follow established procedures.
• High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
This is for 3rd shift - hours are 10 pm to 6 am.
