Director, Global Licensing

This is a senior strategic leadership role responsible for shaping and scaling global licensing performance across key product categories within a major consumer brand ecosystem. You will act as the central owner of licensing strategy, driving growth, profitability, and brand consistency across multiple regions and partners. The role operates at the intersection of product, commercial strategy, and brand execution, requiring close collaboration with internal teams and external licensees. You will oversee end-to-end category performance, from long-range planning through go-to-market execution. This is a highly cross-functional environment involving design, merchandising, finance, legal, marketing, and supply chain stakeholders. The position offers significant visibility and impact, directly influencing global brand expression and revenue performance.

Accountabilities

You will own the global licensing strategy for assigned categories, ensuring alignment between brand direction, commercial goals, and partner execution. This includes managing licensee relationships, driving performance accountability, and ensuring financial and operational targets are consistently met. You will also play a key role in connecting product development, marketing priorities, and seasonal brand moments into cohesive global licensing plans.

  • Own category strategy for global licensed businesses, including growth planning, assortment direction, and long-range roadmap development
  • Serve as primary global relationship owner for key licensees, setting expectations and driving performance against financial, operational, and brand KPIs
  • Lead business reviews with partners and ensure accountability across commercial agreements and execution standards
  • Align licensing strategies with global brand moments, seasonal priorities, and go-to-market plans
  • Partner with Design and Merchandising to ensure product development is brand-aligned and commercially relevant
  • Own forecasting, royalty tracking, and variance analysis in collaboration with Finance partners
  • Identify risks and opportunities through data-driven insights to optimize category and assortment performance
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across regional and global stakeholders to ensure consistent execution
Requirements

This role requires deep experience in licensing, brand management, or merchandising within global consumer environments. You should be comfortable managing complex partner ecosystems, owning financial performance, and influencing cross-functional teams at scale. Strong commercial judgment and structured thinking are essential.

  • 10+ years of experience in licensing, merchandising, or brand management within global consumer brands
  • Proven ownership of product categories with direct financial accountability
  • Strong understanding of product lifecycle management and wholesale/DTC business models
  • Experience managing complex licensee or partner relationships across global markets
  • Strong background in forecasting, royalties, and contract-based commercial structures
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders across multiple functions and regions
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen with data-driven decision-making capability
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills
