Description:

Precision Healthcare Specialists is seeking a motivated, compassionate, and detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our Orthopaedic Surgery team. The CMA will provide clinical and administrative support to physicians and advanced practice providers while assisting in the delivery of high-quality patient care. This role is essential in ensuring efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and a positive patient experience throughout the treatment process.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities
  • Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for provider evaluations.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, medication lists, and chief complaints.
  • Assist physicians and providers during examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Prepare and maintain examination and procedure rooms, ensuring appropriate supplies and equipment are available.
  • Administer injections and medications as directed and within scope of practice.
  • Assist with casting, splinting, brace fittings, wound care, and other orthopaedic-related procedures as directed.
  • Remove sutures, staples, and dressings as permitted by certification and state regulations.
  • Educate patients regarding treatment plans, medications, post-procedure instructions, and follow-up appointments.
  • Coordinate diagnostic testing, imaging studies, referrals, and therapy services.
  • Process prescription refill requests according to provider protocols.
  • Monitor and maintain clinical inventory and medical supplies.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Accurately document patient information within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Assist with appointment scheduling and patient follow-up communications.
  • Complete prior authorizations, referrals, and required documentation.
  • Respond to patient phone calls, portal messages, and provider requests in a timely manner.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality standards.
  • Support physicians and clinical staff with administrative and operational tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification from an accredited organization.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of Medical Assistant experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical procedures and medical terminology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in orthopaedics, sports medicine, surgery, or a specialty practice.
  • Experience assisting with casting, splinting, braces, injections, and minor procedures.
  • Familiarity with orthopaedic terminology, musculoskeletal conditions, and treatment plans.
  • Experience obtaining insurance authorizations and referrals.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to assist patients with mobility needs when appropriate.
  • Frequent use of computers, telephones, and medical equipment.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
