Job Description
The Home Remodel/Repairs Generalist performs a variety of residential home repairs, maintenance, renovations, and improvement projects for PWC clients. This position uses hands-on construction and home improvement skills to complete quality work in areas such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, roofing, heating/HVAC, drywall, flooring, painting, and other residential repair and remodeling activities.
The ideal candidate has strong practical skills in one or more areas of residential construction or home repair and is willing to learn and develop additional skills. The ability to troubleshoot problems, work safely, adapt to different projects, and provide quality service to clients is essential.
Essential Job Duties:
- Perform residential home repairs, maintenance, remodeling, and improvement projects in a safe, professional, and timely manner.
- Apply knowledge and experience in one or more areas of residential construction, repair, or skilled trades.
- Learn and perform tasks outside of an individual's primary area of expertise as needed.
- Troubleshoot problems and determine appropriate methods, materials, and tools to complete assigned work.
- Meet established project and time expectations while maintaining quality workmanship.
- Properly use, maintain, and safeguard PWC equipment, tools, vehicles, and materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the project.
- Complete accurate job, time, travel, material, and other required records in a timely manner.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with clients, coworkers, supervisors, and other individuals encountered during the course of work.
- Follow all applicable safety procedures, building requirements, manufacturer instructions, and PWC policies.
- Work independently while also contributing effectively as a member of a team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required:
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in residential construction, home remodeling, home repair, property maintenance, or a related skilled trade.
- Experience in one or more areas such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC/heating, roofing, drywall, flooring, painting, framing, exterior repairs, or general residential construction.
- Ability and willingness to learn additional home repair and remodeling skills.
- Ability to read and understand work orders, measurements, material instructions, and basic construction information.
- Ability to identify problems, troubleshoot, and determine appropriate solutions.
- Ability to safely use common hand tools, power tools, equipment, and materials associated with residential construction and repair.
- Ability to work independently with appropriate direction and as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively and relate respectfully to people from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Valid driver's license and dependable transportation appropriate for the position. Required vehicle insurance must be maintained.
- Ability to meet the physical and environmental requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Relevant hands-on experience in construction, remodeling, home repair, maintenance, or a skilled trade preferred.
- Formal trade education, apprenticeship, certification, or licensing may be considered in place of some work experience.
- Three years of related experience preferred; equivalent combination of education, training, and hands-on experience may be considered.

- Basic construction math skills, including the ability to read a tape measure and use basic measuring tools.
- Ability to read and follow work orders, plans, product/material instructions, and other job-related information.
- Ability to safely operate common hand and power tools.
- Ability to learn new tools, techniques, materials, and repair methods.
- Ability to assess a repair situation and determine appropriate materials and methods.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Regularly lift and/or move materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally lift and/or move heavier materials and equipment, potentially up to 100 pounds, with appropriate assistance or equipment when necessary.
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, reach, push, pull, and work with hands and fingers.
- Ability to work in confined or awkward spaces that may be encountered during residential repair and remodeling projects.
- Ability to climb and work from ladders and other appropriate elevated work surfaces.

- Close and distant vision and the ability to distinguish details necessary to safely and accurately perform work.

Work Environment:
- Work is performed in residential homes and other environments where repairs and remodeling projects are being completed.
- May work indoors and outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
- May occasionally work at elevated heights or in confined or difficult-to-access areas.
- May be exposed to dust, fumes, airborne particles, noise, moving mechanical parts, construction materials, and cleaning or other job-related chemicals.
