Position Information


Dr. Bernardette Pinetta is seeking a full-time (40 hours/week) Laboratory Assistant to begin in Fall 2026. This position has an anticipated duration of nine months, with potential for renewal subject to funding availability, departmental needs, and individual performance. Her lab is currently involved in developing and conducting community-engaged research with local schools in and around the Riverside area to empower young people, particularly those who experience systemic marginalization. The Laboratory Assistant will be involved in multiple aspects of the research, including developing community relationships, participant recruitment, data collection, and maintenance of data. Preferred candidates will have a strong research background, with experience recruiting, scheduling, and collecting data from human subjects; and experience working within community-based settings. All candidates must have excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills. The position is ideal for motivated individuals interested in pursuing an advanced degree in developmental, educational, and/or community psychology.The full salary range for the Lab Assistant is $56,584.80 - $68,173.20 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is from $56,584.80 - $59,069.00 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Proficiency in written and verbal communication in Spanish
Demonstrated ability to manage students and research assistants in a laboratory setting
