About the Role:

The Bagging Building Associate supports bagging production, material handling, logistics, shipping and receiving and administrative order support at our Southington, CT organic waste recycling facility. This role combines hands-on physical work with desktop-based coordination to help ensure bagged products are produced, staged, documented, and shipped accurately and safely. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, safety-minded, and comfortable working with internal teams, customers, carriers, co-baggers, and shipping and receiving partners.

Shift: M-F 6AM-4:30PM, Saturday (Seasonal) 6AM-1PM | Location: Southington, CT | Pay Rate: $25.00 - $28.00

Responsibilities:

Production Line Support

  • Assist in operating and monitoring the bagging production line to ensure continuous workflow.
  • Ensure mulch/soil material is properly fed into the system and flows smoothly through equipment.
  • Monitor bagging output to confirm proper fill levels, sealing, and overall product quality.
  • Identify and report any issues with equipment or material flow to supervisors.
  • Operate small to midsize equipment such as forklifts, pay loaders, skid steers, and manlifts in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Operate general site vehicles and equipment like pick-up trucks, sweepers and material handlers.
  • Prepare job sites by cleaning, removing hazards, greasing equipment, and assisting with routine maintenance.
  • Use basic hand tools (shovel, pitchfork, grease guns, garbage pickers, and handheld power tools).
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Collaborate with laborers, operators, and supervisors to ensure smooth operation and meet project goals.

Material Handling & Warehouse Support

  • Stack, organize, and stage bagged products on pallets for storage or shipment.
  • Assist with movement of materials and finished goods within the production and yard areas.
  • Support forklift operators and loading activities as needed.
  • Maintain organized storage areas for finished products and supplies.

Equipment & Safety

  • Follow all company and OSHA safety procedures at all times.
  • Assist with safe operation of production equipment and maintain awareness around moving machinery.
  • Perform basic equipment checks and report maintenance needs or safety concerns.
  • Support safe loading practices for outgoing shipments.

Logistics & Order Support

  • Coordinate shipping and receiving activities, including order scheduling, product staging, and shipment preparation.
  • Prepare and maintain shipping logs, labels, bills of lading, and other required shipping documentation.
  • Use NetSuite or similar systems, customer/co-bagger portals, email, and other computer applications to manage orders and communicate updates.
  • Partner with internal teams, customers, co-baggers, carriers, and shipping/receiving partners to understand needs and adjust schedules as necessary.

Housekeeping

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized production and warehouse environment.
  • Perform routine cleanup of work areas, equipment, and surrounding spaces.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Follow daily work instructions and production schedules.
  • Maintain a professional and team-oriented attitude.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of forklift experience, preferred in a production, warehouse, or industrial environment.
  • Demonstrate commitment to workplace safety and ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
  • Ability to understand basic logistics, scheduling, shipping, and receiving processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to work an 8-hour shift Monday through Saturday.
  • Ability and willingness to complete required safety, equipment operation, and job-specific training and maintain assigned training requirements.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Willing to obtain an OSHA 10 certification
  • Willing to obtain a Forklift certification
  • Experience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP/order management platform.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift in an outdoor/warehouse environment for 90% of the time.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers, kneel, crawl, talk, hear, climb, and balance.
  • Ability to regularly lift/move up to 65 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Must be able to work in varying weather conditions (low/high temperatures, humidity, etc.).
  • Be comfortable working at elevated heights up to 30 feet.
