Job Description

Overview:

The Operations Assistant helps Drivers with clothing donation bin servicing, collection services, warehouse operations, onsite events, and other operational activities throughout Edmonton and surrounding areas. Responsibilities include collecting, receiving, sorting, loading, unloading, transporting, packaging, storing, and preparing clothing, household items, bottles, and other donated materials while supporting warehouse and operational functions. This is a hands-on, physically demanding role requiring reliability, a strong work ethic, and a customer-focused approach. This position plays an important role in supporting efficient operations while representing the organization professionally within the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Drivers with servicing clothing donation bins, pickups, deliveries, collection routes and community clean ups.
  • Collect clothing, household items, bottles, and other donated materials from residential and commercial locations.
  • Support door-to-door collection services as required.
  • Load and unload trucks, trailers, warehouses, and other designated locations safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with the placement, relocation, maintenance, and cleaning of outdoor donation bins.
  • Receive donations and receive, sort, organize, package, palletize, and prepare donated materials for storage, distribution, or shipment.
  • Prepare bottles for shipment to the bottle depot.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and safety of donation sites, vehicles, donation bins, warehouse facilities, yard areas, and workspaces.
  • Assist with operational documentation.
  • Work at Company facilities and other operational locations as required.
  • Ensure professional and courteous interactions with customers, donors, community partners, and the public.
  • Follow all Company policies, health and safety procedures, safe lifting practices, and PPE requirements.
  • Perform other duties related to the position as reasonably assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • CSA-approved steel-toe safety boots.
  • Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, crouch, reach, climb steps, and perform repetitive physical tasks.
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to safely move donations and materials throughout the workday.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and in warehouse and yard environments.
  • This position may be exposed to elements such as noise, dust, odours, fumes, and oils.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check.
  • Previous experience in general labour, moving, warehouse, delivery, material handling, or a similar physically demanding role is considered an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence is considered an asset.
  • Ability to travel throughout Edmonton and surrounding areas as operationally required.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable, flexible, adaptable, and punctual.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
  • Ability to safely operate manual material handling equipment, such as pallet jacks and dollies, is considered an asset.

Schedule

  • Casual, on-call.
  • Flexibility required based on operational needs, including occasional evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays as required.
