Job Description
The Licensed Medical Provider in this role works in an acute withdrawal management (or detox) setting as well as in a residential treatment environment, caring for patients suffering from substance use disorders. The provider in this role works as a part of a larger addiction medicine team, including experienced physicians, advance practice providers, PMHNPs, as well as RN’s, LPN’s, and substance use counselors. The provider performs admission physicals, formulating and documenting a patient-centered plan of care for both management of withdrawal and initiation of maintenance medications to manage substance use disorders. The provider also addresses other medical issues that arise in detox and residential clients as needed; participates in coordination of care with other team members internally, as well as with external providers including primary care providers, specialists, and the Emergency Department, when indicated. This role will spend an average of approximately 30-40 hours per week, in a 3-4 day work week. An average day consists of 4-8 hours of direct patient care and coordination, with 24-hour on-call access to provide admission orders for evening intakes and to triage occasional issues as they arise.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Medical Degree (PA, NP) from accredited university required;
• Experience in addiction, behavioral health and dual-diagnosis care and treatment required;
• For individuals in recovery from substance-use disorder, must have maintained continuous recovery for the previous two years at the time of hire
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
• Valid license to practice medicine in Oregon
• Current ALS/CPR Certification required
• Must maintain a valid Oregon Driver License or ability to obtain one upon hire and be insurable under the organization’s auto liability coverage policy (minimum 21 years of age and with no Type A violations in the past 3 years, or three (3) or more Type B violations) and must have a reliable vehicle with adequate insurance to travel as needed.
PREFERRED:
• Experience working with diverse, multi-cultural communities preferred
• Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
