Job Overview

This position identifies and plans repairs jobs, including completing assessments of approved homes and creating scopes of work that account for homeowner needs and funding restrictions. Additional responsibilities include managing project documentation and ensuring homeowners have signed contracts and have a clear understanding of the scope of work to be performed on their homes.

The Repairs Project Manager also collaborates with Site Supervisors and the Director of Repairs to schedule team projects, subcontracted work, and volunteer events. This position helps the team run more efficiently and expand the number of homeowners served.

This role requires strong organization, communication, problem-solving, and project coordination skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. The Project Manager plays an important role in helping the organization improve operational efficiency and expand the number of homeowners it can serve.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct home assessments to identify repair needs and develop clear scopes of work for each project, ensuring proposed repairs appropriately address homeowner needs and are matched with eligible funding sources.
  • Participate in team scheduling and planning for upcoming projects, coordinating priorities, timelines, and resources with the Director of Repairs and Site Supervisors.
  • Work closely with the Director of Repairs and Site Supervisors to plan upcoming projects, coordinate subcontracted work and volunteer events, establish project schedules, and ensure field teams have the information and logistical support needed to complete work efficiently.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for homeowners throughout the repairs process, providing clear information about the planned work, project expectations, and next steps.
  • Ensure homeowners understand and approve the scope of work and that all required paperwork, contracts, agreements, and other documentations are completed and signed before and during the project as required.
  • Supervise the use of project tracking software to maintain accurate and up-to-date project information, including adding new applications, updating job statuses, and recording relevant project activity. Ensure repairs are fully documented through appropriate homeowner paperwork and other required records, maintaining organized information that supports project management and program reporting.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support to field staff as needed to help projects move forward efficiently. Coordinate with Site Supervisors and other team members regarding project schedules, field needs, materials, subcontracted work, volunteer activities, and other logistical requirements associated with upcoming and active repair projects.
  • Work closely with the Director of Repairs to help align repairs program policies, procedures, and project practices with donor requirements and broader organizational needs. Contribute to improvements in project coordination, documentation, communication, and workflow that support an efficient and effective repairs program.
  • Perform other job duties as required.
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience (full time) in residential construction, especially modifications or repairs to older homes.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and the ability to effectively use project tracking software and other technology as required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to clearly and effectively relay information to homeowners, field staff, contractors, volunteers, and internal departments.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects, maintain accurate documentation, and meet deadlines with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a cross-functional team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong planning, problem-solving, and coordination skills, with the ability to adapt to changing project needs and priorities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and work on your feet for up to 10 hours per day.
  • Lift and carry up to 50lbs frequently.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and humidity.
  • Safely operate ladders, construction equipment, and power tools as needed.
