Utilization Review Intake Specialist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Utilization Review Intake Specialist based in United States.

This remote role provides essential administrative and intake support within a utilization review and case management environment.
You will serve as an important first point of contact for precertification requests and related inquiries.
The position combines accurate data entry, documentation, telephone communication, and coordination with healthcare stakeholders.
Your attention to detail will help ensure patient, provider, and facility information remains accurate and current.
You will work in a fast-paced, high-volume setting where professionalism, organization, and responsiveness are critical.
The role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to efficient healthcare review processes while collaborating with a supportive team.
Success will require strong communication skills, composure under pressure, and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.

Accountabilities
  • Handle incoming calls related to precertification requests and provide timely, professional support to callers and stakeholders.
  • Verify and maintain accurate patient, provider, and facility information within the applicable systems.
  • Enter service requests, notes, and other relevant information accurately into the CareMC system.
  • Provide administrative support to the utilization review and case management functions, including report preparation, correspondence, file handling, and form completion as needed.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external stakeholders through telephone, written correspondence, and other communication channels.
  • Manage multiple priorities and assigned requests efficiently while meeting established deadlines and service expectations.
  • Maintain accuracy and attention to detail when handling sensitive healthcare information and documentation.
  • Support departmental objectives and complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate's degree or equivalent education is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced, team-oriented environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate diplomatically and professionally in potentially stressful situations.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills, with consistent attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude, including the ability to work with Microsoft Office applications and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to remain composed and professional under pressure while handling sensitive or time-critical requests.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing effectively within a collaborative team.
  • Strong customer-service orientation and commitment to accurate, timely, and professional communication.
