Benefits Financial Consultant Employee Health & Benefits

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Benefits Financial Consultant – Employee Health & Benefits based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to combine financial analysis, healthcare benefits expertise, and actuarial thinking to help organizations make better-informed benefits decisions.
You will lead analysis and modeling of medical and pharmacy costs, utilization patterns, claims, and cost drivers.
Your work will directly support recommendations around plan design, employee contributions, providers, and funding strategies.
You’ll develop sophisticated financial models and analytical tools that help clients and internal teams evaluate complex benefits programs.
The position involves close collaboration with clients, insurance carriers, actuaries, underwriters, and cross-functional colleagues.
You’ll work in a dynamic environment where analytical rigor, communication, initiative, and practical business judgment are highly valued.

Accountabilities
  • Lead analysis of medical and pharmacy utilization, unit costs, claims trends, and key expense drivers, translating findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Provide in-person and virtual consultation to clients on employee benefits strategies, including plan design, contributions, care models, and provider considerations.
  • Develop claim projections, trend analyses, forecasts, and comparisons of alternative funding mechanisms for larger client accounts.
  • Review and prepare annual benefit plan renewals, collaborating with insurance carrier underwriting and actuarial teams to assess ratings and premiums.
  • Build and enhance financial models, spreadsheets, and analytical tools that support benefit-plan decisions for organizations, prospective clients, and employees.
  • Develop models to improve the accuracy and consistency of IBNR reserve projections and reduce forecasting variance.
  • Support the integration of data analytics across disability, life, and other employee benefits as needed.
  • Serve as a day-to-day analytical resource for colleagues and contribute to process improvements that increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality when handling client, financial, healthcare, and company information.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, actuarial science, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Experience demonstrating exceptional analytical ability through professional work, coursework, or relevant projects.
  • Progress toward an ASA designation is preferred, with successful completion of at least one actuarial exam considered a plus.
  • Strong ability to build productive relationships with colleagues, decision-makers, clients, insurance carriers, and other stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial and analytical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Highly self-directed, energetic, motivated, and dependable, with strong ownership, follow-through, and attention to deadlines.
  • Comfortable adapting to changing priorities, managing multiple assignments, and working effectively in a deadline-driven consulting environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to introduce or implement improved processes and analytical approaches.
  • ASA designation and an insurance license are advantageous; an insurance license may be required within six months of hire.

  • Base salary range of $112,200–$209,100, depending on experience, skills, education, certifications, location, and other applicable factors.
