Job Description

Description:

Can you plan a job so well the crew wins before they ever pick up a tool?

Davis Industrial keeps Florida’s industries moving. We install, repair, and maintain the conveyor systems that aggregate, mining, cement, ports, and material-handling operations depend on — belt work, mechanical repair, fabrication, and full-scale projects. When a plant goes down, they call us. We’ve built our name on doing the work right, and we’re growing into bigger, more complex projects — which is exactly why we’re hiring a Industrial Mechanical Project Manager.

This is not a desk-based project management role. We need someone who has personally performed industrial mechanical and fabrication work and can still step into the field when needed. If a welder calls out, you should understand the work well enough to pick up the hood and help get the job done. If a gearbox, bearing, fabrication or conveyor installation doesn’t look right, you should be capable of recognizing it before the customer does.

This is not a desk job, and it’s not a title without teeth. It’s a leadership role for someone who has the technical depth to earn a crew’s respect and the leadership ability to make them better. You’ll own industrial service and project work ranging from a few thousand dollars to major capital projects — scoping and estimating the work, planning it so crews are set up to succeed, leading execution in the field, and standing behind the quality and profitability. You’ll be one of the faces of our service department to customers, and a technical resource our technicians can count on before a job goes sideways, not after.

We are not looking for a technician ready to become a project manager, and we are not looking for a project manager who depends on technicians for the technical answers. We’re looking for someone who came up through heavy industrial mechanical and fabrication work, has since successfully estimated and managed projects, and can bring technical knowledge, leadership, and business judgment to the table on day one.

We’re looking for a builder — someone who treats the success of the business as their own, who comes in early and stays late when the job demands it, and who, when things are slow, goes and finds the next opportunity. If you’re the person other techs already call when they’re stuck, and you’ve been waiting for a company that will actually let you lead and grow, we want to talk.

Requirements:

What you’ll do

• Scope, estimate, and plan service, mechanical, and fabrication projects — especially our larger and more complex work, including overland conveyor installations.

• Lead projects end to end: plan the sequence, materials, manpower, and logistics, then run the execution in the field.

• Lead, motivate, and develop the crews — not just direct the work.

• Own the quality and the profitability (P&L) of the projects you run.

• Be a knowledgeable, professional point of contact for customers before, during, and after the job.

• Provide leadership on emergency and after-hours calls — we run 24/7/365.

• Champion safety on every job (OSHA / MSHA / DOT).

What you bring

• Real, hands-on technical depth in industrial mechanical work — conveyors, bulk material handling, aggregate/mining, or closely related heavy industry — with strength in fabrication and mechanical repair. You diagnose and solve; you don’t just swap parts.

• Proven ability to lead and develop people — the single most important thing you bring.

• Experience planning and managing projects from estimate through completion, on time and on budget.

• The presence and communication skills to build customer confidence and lead crews.

• A technical, engineering, or construction-management degree is a plus — but a strong track record matters more.

Location & travel

Based out of our Tampa, FL branch — you must live within a reasonable daily commute of Tampa. This role travels throughout Florida, with occasional travel to the Southeast or out of state for larger projects, including overnight and multi-day trips.

Why Davis
