Summary: Responsible for preparing, delivering and picking up trays for patients, communicating pertinent information regarding menu preferences, delivering nourishments, taking inventory of floor supplies and re-supplying them to a par level. Works as a team member with the patient’s family, nursing, and food service support to maximize patient meal satisfaction. Practice exceptional customer service at all times. Serves as primary liaison between patients and food service operations.

Responsibilities: Provides meal service to patients. Assist patients with verbal patient meal selections in accordance with current nutrition care order. Communicates food preferences from the patient to the food service department to ensure the highest patient satisfaction with meal service. Communicate frequently with the patient care team for any patients who are problematic, in isolation, or incapable of menu completion for insight into known preferences or family requests. Performs minor food preparation and portioning tasks in accordance with departmental policy. Responsible for the transport of patient trays. Deliver therapeutic nourishment. Delivers trays to patients in accordance with established facility and departmental procedures. Utilizes established double identifiers to ensure patient safety. Double-check the tray for accuracy and nutrition order compliance prior to delivery. Ensures the tray is positioned properly for the patient, assists the patient with the opening of any tray elements, and checks with the patient for the need of any additional items or missing items. Picks up soiled trays in a timely manner and returns the trays to the kitchen for proper cleaning and storage.
