Job Description

Senior Staff Software Engineer - Full Stack

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer - Full Stack based in the United States.

This is a high-impact, hands-on technical leadership role focused on shaping the architecture behind large-scale commerce systems powering modern creator and affiliate-driven experiences. You will operate at the intersection of engineering strategy and execution, defining full-stack architectural direction while still actively contributing production-grade code. The role spans multiple teams and domains, requiring someone who can connect system-level decisions to company-wide product outcomes. You will work across a modern stack including frontend, backend, cloud, and data systems, influencing how core platforms evolve. In addition to architecture ownership, you will regularly lead zero-to-one initiatives, turning ambiguous ideas into shipped products. This is a deeply collaborative environment where engineering excellence, speed, and practical problem-solving are highly valued. You will partner closely with Product and Engineering leadership to ensure technical strategy aligns with long-term business goals.

Accountabilities

You will define and guide the technical architecture for large-scale full-stack systems, ensuring consistency, scalability, and alignment across multiple engineering teams while actively contributing to implementation and delivery.

  • Own and evolve end-to-end system architecture across distributed teams, resolving conflicting technical approaches and setting engineering standards that scale across the organization.
  • Remain hands-on by writing production-quality code, building prototypes, and leading zero-to-one initiatives from concept through deployment and iteration.
  • Drive execution of complex, ambiguous technical initiatives by breaking them into coordinated workstreams and ensuring cross-team alignment and delivery.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership to translate business objectives into technical strategy and long-term architectural direction.
  • Lead the application of machine learning where relevant, supporting the productionization of ML systems including deployment, evaluation, and monitoring.
  • Improve engineering excellence across the organization by raising standards in code quality, system design, reliability, and operational practices.
  • Mentor and develop senior engineers, helping them grow into technical leaders through coaching, feedback, and technical guidance.
Requirements

This role requires deep technical expertise across full-stack systems, strong architectural leadership, and the ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, high-scale environments.

  • 10+ years of experience building production-grade, large-scale software systems, with a consistent track record of hands-on coding and delivery.
  • Proven success delivering zero-to-one products or systems from concept to production in complex environments.
  • Deep full-stack expertise across frontend, backend, APIs, and data systems, with strong system design and architecture experience across multiple teams.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, with experience in modern frontend and backend frameworks, along with strong Go and Python skills.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, relational databases, and scalable API design.
  • Experience or strong familiarity with machine learning systems in production, including deployment, evaluation, and monitoring workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity, align stakeholders, and drive execution across multiple teams and priorities.
  • Experience improving system reliability, defining SLOs, and contributing to incident response and operational excellence practices.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build technical consensus and engage effectively with executive stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring and developing senior engineers into technical leaders.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary range of approximately $205,000–$265,000 depending on experience and location
  • 401(k) plan with employer contribution
  • Fully covered employee health, vision, and dental insurance (and partial coverage for dependents)
  • Unlimited PTO including company-wide breaks and personal days
  • Remote-first flexibility with access to in-person collaboration hubs
  • Monthly stipends for phone, internet, and lifestyle expenses
  • Complimentary One Medical memberships for employees and dependents
  • Employee assistance program and wellness support
  • Access to coworking spaces in select locations and team social events
  • Inclusive, values-driven culture focused on learning, experimentation, and delivery
