Senior Epic Access Applications Analyst

Job Summary

The Sr. Epic Cadence/Grand Central/Prelude Application Analyst provides technical application support for complex Epic applications, analyzing, evaluating, and troubleshooting Epic applications. The applications analyst must understand and translate the business functionality into the Epic systems configuration and workflow validations. Plans and prepares Cadence/Grand Central/Prelude test scripts for application testing, integration testing and user acceptance testing.

Provides Cadence/Grand Central/Prelude application and technical support for the product line in addition to providing triage and troubleshooting to the product customers. Monitors the systems for data quality, efficiency, operation, and data integrity and appropriately escalates issues/problems. Provides system analysis, design, development, documentation, and configuration as well as testing and training of the product. Provides standardization direction for the product aligning the application version and workflow with current standards. Provides consulting and high-level analysis of multiple applications and/or highly complex applications.

Gathers and analyzes user needs for developing and modifying clinical or business applications in the healthcare environment. Includes providing complex application support, writes documentation and specifications. Analyzes complex results, proposes solutions and/or recommendations in addition to building, configuring and/or modifying applications using existing application tools.

Responsible for achieving in-depth knowledge of Epic System's Cadence software and serves as a liaison between end users and Epic implementation staff. Conducts regular day-to-day communication with Epic's installation team, reviews the software, analyzes business operations, and works with Epic vendor, project team(s), business representatives, subject matter experts, and end users to tailor the system to fit the organization's needs. The Analyst routinely performs in-depth analyses of workflows, data collection, report details, and other technical issues and is responsible for developing and documenting the internal procedures that are used in conjunction with Epic applications, and designs, builds, tests, installs and maintains those solutions.

Performance: Position Specific Essential Functions

  • Provides advanced troubleshooting assistance to end-user application issues in a timely manner.
  • Reviews and understands system options and specifications in Business and Clinical applications and provides highly complex qualitative and quantitative analysis on data and information collected as part of application requirement gathering. Coordinates application analysis and impact analysis of new or different applications, processes, or changes.
  • Provides complex application support and guidance to end users and provides technical guidance to less experienced personnel. Serves as point of contact for resolution of complex application problems. Able to quickly assess problems and identify resolutions.
  • Coordinates development of application testing scripts and conversion plans. Conducts all phases of testing: unit, assembly, integration, and user acceptance tests. Collaborates with other Application Analysts to build test plans for integration testing. Works with project and infrastructure team to manage and maintain test environments as needed.
  • Makes recommendations and provide alternatives with regards to various development and support initiatives and the integration/relationship between and among organizational applications.
  • Prepares and validates complete applications documentation for operations and sets programming specifications for user departments. Prepares written documentation of various type: application documentation, analytical reports, functional specifications, training manuals, status reports, etc. Creates, evaluates, and instructs/teaches other.
  • Provides input and assists with the development of departmental policies and procedures as they relate to the use of clinical applications.
  • Participates and/or leads projects, estimates costs, time frames, staffing requirements and prepares cost justifications for assigned project. Uses status reports for project oversight.
  • Validates the designing for each application assigned, under the control of the change management application and user development request.
  • Communicate with internal and external installation and support teams, reviewing software upgrades, software testing analysis, analyzing business operations and workflows, and working with vendor and end users to tailor systems to organizational needs.
  • Conducts and/or participates in in-service and various educational programs for professional development. Orients, mentors, and transfers knowledge to staff.
  • Assists with training as needed
  • Provide after-hours support as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Required
    • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Preferred
    • Associate's degree
    • Bachelor's degree

Experience:

  • Preferred
    • Five or more years of experience or strong knowledge of clinical workflow, practice standards and documentation requirements
      • Required if lacking Epic Analyst experience
      • Required for clinical applicants

Certification/Licensure:

  • Required
    • Valid Driver's License
      • Required for some positions
    • Epic Certification related to application
      • In order to be adequately prepared and trained to build, test and optimize the Epic system, Shannon requires that Epic certifications be obtained within 90 days of completion of the assigned required training classes. Required certifications must be maintained as assigned
  • Preferred
    • Certification in related clinical field
    • Membership in professional organization
