Position Overview
The Banquet Houseperson Supervisor oversees and coordinates the setup, breakdown, and maintenance of banquet and event spaces. This role supervises banquet housepersons to ensure event rooms are prepared accurately, safely, and on time according to event orders and brand standards. The Banquet Houseperson Supervisor plays a critical role in supporting successful event execution within a full-service hotel environment.
What You'll Do
Banquet Setup & Event Execution
- Supervise the setup, reset, and breakdown of banquet rooms according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
- Ensure correct placement of tables, chairs, staging, linens, and equipment.
- Verify room setups meet event specifications, timelines, and hotel standards.
- Coordinate room changes, last-minute requests, and event transitions efficiently.
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise, train, coach, and schedule banquet housepersons.
- Assign daily tasks and ensure adequate staffing for events.
- Monitor performance and provide real-time feedback and direction.
- Assist with onboarding, training, and performance documentation.
Safety, Equipment & Inventory Control
- Ensure safe handling, transport, and storage of banquet equipment.
- Monitor use and condition of tables, chairs, staging, and event equipment.
- Report equipment damage, shortages, or maintenance needs promptly.
Coordination & Communication
- Communicate closely with Banquet Managers, Event Services, and Culinary teams.
- Attend pre-event meetings and briefings as required.
- Ensure clear communication of setup details and changes to the team.
Quality & Standards Compliance
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of banquet storage and service areas.
- Ensure compliance with hotel policies, brand standards, and safety guidelines.
- Conduct inspections of event spaces before and after events.
- Support guest satisfaction by ensuring professional, efficient service support.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with event coverage during peak periods as needed.
- Support special projects and large-scale events.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support banquet operations.
What You'll Bring
Required Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Previous banquet, events, or hospitality experience preferred.
- Supervisory or lead experience in banquets or events preferred.
- Experience working in a full-service hotel or high-volume event environment preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and execute Banquet Event Orders accurately.
- Ability to lift, move, and set up heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs.).
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
