This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Data Governance Lead based in Brazil.
This is a part-time advisory opportunity supporting a major enterprise data warehouse transformation for a global commodities trading and supply chain organization.
You will design and implement a modern data governance framework for a Microsoft Fabric environment built on complex, fragmented legacy data sources.
The role spans critical domains including trading, risk, finance, and logistics, with significant influence over how data is structured, governed, and trusted.
You will establish standards for cataloging, lineage, ownership, access, classification, and data quality across the platform.
Working closely with business and technical stakeholders, you will turn governance principles into practical processes that can operate effectively in production.
You will also contribute to master data management and help data owners and analysts adopt consistent governance practices.
This is a high-impact greenfield engagement where your expertise will directly shape a modern enterprise data architecture.
Design and implement an enterprise data governance framework across Microsoft OneLake and Fabric workspace layers, covering cataloging, lineage, ownership, and access control.
Define and enforce cataloging standards for Bronze, Silver, and Gold data assets, including Lakehouse tables, Warehouse objects, and Semantic Model entities.
Establish end-to-end data lineage from ERP, CTRM, and SAP source systems through transformation layers to final reporting and data products.
Develop and apply enterprise data quality rules and validation frameworks across ingestion and transformation layers.
Integrate data quality controls with Microsoft Fabric pipeline execution and operational workflows.
Define naming conventions, data classification standards, and workspace-level access policies aligned with Microsoft Fabric governance capabilities.
Collaborate with SAP S/4HANA and CTRM integration teams to document source-system metadata and lineage across key business domains.
Develop and lead a master data management strategy for shared entities spanning trading, finance, and logistics.
Establish practical data stewardship processes and work with business owners to embed governance into day-to-day operations.
Produce governance documentation, stewardship guides, standards, and training materials for data owners, stewards, and analysts.
Help ensure governance requirements are reflected in the production architecture and remain scalable as the enterprise data platform evolves.
7+ years of experience in data governance, data management, data architecture, or a closely related discipline, including hands-on implementation of production governance frameworks.
Strong experience with enterprise data governance concepts, including data lineage, metadata management, cataloging, classification, ownership, stewardship, and data quality.
Experience with Microsoft Azure or Microsoft Fabric governance capabilities; knowledge of Microsoft Purview is a strong advantage.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview for data cataloging, classification, and lineage scanning across Fabric or Azure environments is preferred.
Strong understanding of enterprise data quality frameworks and the ability to establish practical validation standards across ingestion and transformation layers.
Experience working with complex, multi-source data environments spanning different systems, regions, and business domains.
Familiarity with financial services, commodity trading, trading operations, or global supply chain data is highly valuable.
Experience defining and operationalizing data stewardship processes in collaboration with business owners and data stakeholders.
Experience with master data management across ERP and CTRM source systems; SAP MDG or similar technologies are a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in a technical, data, business, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Data governance certification such as DAMA CDMP or equivalent is preferred.
Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to translate governance concepts into practical business processes.
Ability to work independently in a part-time advisory capacity while influencing both technical and business teams.
Strong documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Professional English proficiency and the ability to submit application materials in English.
$5,500–$6,500 USD per month.
Part-time advisory engagement spanning Weeks 2–18 of a 26-week enterprise data warehouse implementation.
