Sales Manager

Reports to Store Manager

SUMMARY

The Sales Manager is expected to creatively and continuously lead, train and monitor the entire sales staff of their location. He/she is expected to produce levels of performance in each individual that is a part of the sales staff at, or above the stated goals. Additionally, they are to work with management to see that all areas of floor display are properly taken care of and that customer satisfaction before, during and after the sale is achieved.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the sales of the store location and the supervision of Sales Associates in the execution of their duties.
  • Chief promoter of customer service for the store location to ensure every customer is appropriately waited on and given an incredible experience.
  • Greet every customer, as possible, to obtain their contact information and attempt to locate merchandise they are interested in that the store may not have in stock.
  • Responsible for the implementation, training, and strict adherence of the Schewels Home “Sales Management Plan” by the Store Sales Associates.
  • In consultation with the Store Manager, set Sales Quotas for Sales Associates and hold them accountable to these specific goals.
  • Provide assistance to each Sales Associate as needed to make sure Sales Quotas and Customer Care Option (CCOs) goal are met.
  • Assist in closing sales and also Customer Care Options (CCOs) as needed.
  • Responsible for holding each Sales Associate accountable for their condition of the store’s selling floor. To include ensuring floor displays are properly taken care of and cleaned as appropriate.
  • Ability to learn and recite specific product knowledge to customers and associates about the Schewels Home product line-up, to include special orders as needed.
  • Bring creative ideas to increase sales to the Store Manager and/or Regional Supervisor.
  • Train and coach each Sales Associate on their sales skills to include follow-ups, overcoming objections, and closing the sale.
  • Maintain an upbeat and positive attitude in supporting decisions made by Store Management or the Corporate office.
  • Participate in weekly management meetings as instructed by the Store Manager.
  • Conduct weekly sales meetings, as well as daily huddles, with the Sales Associates to cover the various nuances and changes in company promotions.
  • Be able and willing to tag incoming merchandise as assigned by the Store Manager.
  • Be able to review all delivery, pick-ups, and notify files to get merchandise moved up for delivery.
  • Work with the Store Manager and Warehouse Manager to authorize special deliveries if necessary.
  • Work with the Assistant Store Manager to set up necessary service on complaints when needed.
  • Willing and able to make suggestions and changes in store display to better enhance sales.
  • Change tag placement on merchandise to comply with company directives.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This position requires an individual who is honest, reputable, dependable, and has both the ability and desire to serve the customers in an efficient and professional manner. Must have good communication and time management skills.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Valid driver’s license with clean driving record;

Answer the telephone and use the intercom in a professional manner;

Ability to work with minimal supervision;

Ability to read and understand simple instructions, reports and documents such as delivery paperwork, merchandise tickets, safety rules and regulations;

Must be flexible and have the ability to perform under pressure;

Ensure that work area is properly maintained in a neat, orderly fashion;

Ability to think critically and creatively with personal initiative;

Perform duties for other personnel who are absent.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee must be able to stand on his/her feet for up to eight hours a day. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, walk and sit.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or GED is preferred. Candidates with less education may be considered upon related work experience.
  • At least one year in customer service or sales is required.
  • At least one year of management experience is preferred.
